[Introduction & Background] Hi everyone! Today, I finally finalized my purchase of the Signia Pure Charge & GO 7IX + . I’d like to share my experience from the initial trial to the final decision. I hope this helps anyone considering hearing aids. Please keep in mind that this is based on my personal experience.
I have had profound hearing loss in my right ear since childhood, with speech recognition near 0%. For decades, I relied solely on my left ear. However, since age 18, my “good” ear has suffered from sudden hearing drops (possibly Meniere’s disease). After another episode in September 2025, I decided I could no longer ignore it and sought a solution to manage my fluctuating hearing.
[Trial Strategy: Why I Chose the Premium Level] Over the past three months, I trialed the Signia Pure 7IX, Signia Silk 7IX, and the Phonak Audeo Infinio I90. I insisted on testing the highest technology level. While I wasn’t sure if I would use every single feature, I didn’t want to save money now only to regret the performance later. I highly recommend trialing various levels to find the perfect fit for your specific needs.
[Expectation Management: The Role of CROS] For sensorineural hearing loss, hearing aids primarily provide amplification; however, your inner ear and brain nerves determine how much you actually “understand.” Since my right ear has poor recognition, my primary goal shifted: I needed the CROS system to transmit sounds from my weaker side to my better ear, allowing me to hear from all directions.
[The Gold Standard: & Sound Field Testing] I cannot stress this enough: the default settings from the manufacturer’s software are rarely sufficient. You must demand Real Ear Measurement (REM) from your audiologist to ensure your devices are performing at 100%. I also requested a Sound Field Test to verify speech clarity on the CROS side in noisy environments—a crucial real-world scenario.
-
REM Procedure: We measured three curves: unaided, aided (both ears), and CROS-only aided. The goal is for the CROS curve to nearly overlap with the aided curve, ensuring balanced gain on both sides.
-
Sound Field Test: With 65dB of noise playing on my “good” side, the audiologist tested my ability to repeat sentences spoken on my “weak” side. We adjusted the CROS gain by +2dB to achieve optimal clarity.
[Brand Comparison: Signia vs. Phonak]
-
Signia: The sound processing is incredibly smooth—so natural that you almost forget you’re wearing them. The audio quality for music streaming is also superior.
-
Phonak: While their noise cancellation is impressive, I personally found the sound too “artificial.” Additionally, the battery drained faster, and the streaming quality was noticeably weaker than Signia’s.
[Cost & Final Advice] The total cost for the Signia Pure C&G 7IX + CROS was approximately $8,200. Since I was a returning customer, I received a 20% loyalty discount, bringing the actual cost to around $6,500. Every brand has its strengths, so try as many as you can. Most importantly, choose a provider near your home who is willing to perform REM, as follow-up adjustments are the key to long-term success.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Good luck!
