Rexton Assist is available in the Rexton App. With it, you can change the settings in the “automatic” program by answering a series of questions posed about any hearing difficulty you’re experiencing while you’re using the Rexton Reach hearing aids in a particular environment (a noisy restaurant, for example). It will change some settings and ask you whether you want to keep the changes. If it’s an improvement then you should keep the changes, at least as long as you’re in that environment.
If you don’t want to keep the changes for general use, then you can discard the changes when you leave that environment by tapping on the gear icon at the upper right corner of the Rexton Assist module and tapping on “Revert all changes.” But make a note of your responses to the Rexton assist module when the changes were made. You’ll need this information if you want the fitter to make a new program for you.
You can tell your fitter what changes you made in Rexton Assist and then ask for a new program to be installed with those changes. It’s easy to do in the CONNEXX fitting software because the fitter can copy the Automatic program to another program slot, rename it, then use Rexton Assist in the fitting software to make the same changes you did in the app. After that you can easily change to that new program whenever you’re in that environment again.
You can test out all kinds of changes using Rexton Assist in different environments to find what works for you. You can do this as often as you want because you can “revert” to the original Automatic program whenever you want to.
Here is an example of how I used this feature. First, I played dialogue on my computer speakers in front of me for a variety of voice types here: AI Voice Generator with Emotional Text to Speech13
At the same time, I played different kinds of music from speakers behind me to simulate a noisy environment. Of course, I could control the volume of both the dialogue and the music to vary the loudness of the dialogue relative to the loudness of the background music. Then I made changes to my hearing aid settings using Rexton Assist while in that “environment.”
Rexton Assist asked me “What do you need help with?”. I responded “Other Voices”, then “Voices in General”, then “Incomprehensible”. It made changes and asked whether I wanted to keep the changes. For me, that improved my ability to understand the dialogue with music playing in the background.
I have the CONNEXX software and a Noahlink, So I created a new program that I called “Speech in Noise.” However, you can also ask your fitter to create a program, as I mentioned earlier.
