Ive seen this claim going around for years but what I haven’t seen (and I’ve researched this) is : What level of hearing loss is linked to dementia? All loss? Mild? severe? We all get at one point in life, its the new presbyopia ![]()
And if it is linked to dementia, does it occur in younger people with hearing loss?.
Cleveland clinic claims 2 out 3 over the age of 70 have hearing loss. CDC says only 4% of people over 65%. have dementia.
Interesting topic but not new – I was told that 20 years by an audiologist - the guy was pushing to sell me a $6000 hearing aid , that was his selling point (since my hearing loss was considered borderline, he couldn’t use that as a selling point)

I know that I have to concentrate harder when listening to people - more brainpower required.
It is very easy to “disengage” because it does not feel worth the effort and a continence of this is what I suspect leads to dementia. In this case a withdrawal from society
Just my view
