Just traded my Jabra E/H Pro 20s for E/H Pro 30s

I returned my Jabra 20s for the 30s and I’m very pleased. The 20s always sounded too shrill while the 30s sound more natural, even in the, “All Around”, function. I have a minimum to moderate hearing loss, mostly in the high frequencies. I tried them out in a noisy restaurant the other day, in a place where a friend and I have been before and sat at the same table as with the 20s. The 30s did a better job of reducing the noise level as best as I remember. I could really tell the difference when I switched the app to back to the, “Here Everyone” from the “Hear in Noise” function. One thing that helped with the, “Hear in Noise”, function was to activate the Speech Focus slider to narrow, this reduced the noise especially coming from behind.

I never use the Apps anymore, my HAs are pretty much dialed in, no need for it, I use the HAs buttons if I ever change volume/program etc, I don’t even need my cellphone or any other accessories with me when I’m out and about, but maybe in the future they will allow a lot more involved adjustments to achieve the settings you want without the need to vist a clinic, now that would be more useful for some.
So I’m not saying there shouldn’t be any apps at all, just that it shouldn’t be a high priority in choosing ones HAs.

In the case of the Jabra hearing aids, the one button will select noise reduction as well as Turing them on or off. To really adjust the hearing aids to make the many adjustments requires a smart phone. Possibly the one button might be able to be programmed by the hearing aid specialist to do more functions, but I don’t really know. Also, IDK about any other hearing aids. I never go anywhere without my iPhone, except in the swimming pool. Then: it’s nearby. One reason is that the iPhone will automatically call 911 if I fall or have a serious cardiac event through my Apple Watch.

The app for the Jabra EP 30s is incredibly versatile. I have four programs: all around, outside, music and hear in noise. Each of these has two buttons: noise filter and speech clarity. Only one button can be on at a time, so this gives three options for each of the programs. All twelve of these possible settings can be further adjusted by pressing the button marked sound enhancer. Hear you can adjust bass, middle high frequencies, and the levels of noise and wind noise reduction.

I have only just got these aids, but the app seems a great way to dial them in to see what works for me in various settings. This may not quite be as versatile as self-programming, but it is perfect for me.

As for buttons, each aid only has one. My right button will increase volume with a short press, toggle through programs with a slightly longer press, turn off with an even longer press. It will also disconnect phone calls, as I discovered while trying to increase the volume.

I agree. I like the buttons a lot and use them frequently throughout the day, in and out of a store, walking, in the car. Making adjustments. Almost never use the app although my iPhone is always with me.

I don’t find that a single long push cycles thru the programs. On my EH20’s, each change to a diff program is a single, distinct, push of the right ear button.

The Jabra Enhanced Pro 30s, the tap to answer feature is now available for Android. However as an iPhone user it’s not very good. The hearing aids are not continuously connected to Bluetooth. Therefore, for the first few seconds, until they connect, you won’t hear and your calling party won’t hear you. Also, most callers report that the sound quality through your hearing aid microphones sound like you are far away from your phone. I know nothing about Costco’s previous hearing aids.

I notice the Jabra App often shows the hearing aids as disconnected when they are still connected to my iPhone 11 Pro (I can see them connected in control panel).

I don’t use the Jabra tap to answer feature to answer the phone (as posted above I push a button on my Garmin running watch to answer calls - it is just simpler) but I do hear calls ring (beep) on my Jabra Pro 30’s and audio starts immediately I answer.

Call quality has been great for both callers and me. I have talked quite a few times already to my 90+ year old mum in Europe and she is hearing me very clearly!

My wife with an iPhone 15 Pro also reports great call quality for callers and her through her Jabra Pro 30s.

(note the Garmin watch is playing no role in the audio it is just an easier way to accept or reject incoming calls which are then handled by the Phone)
