Where are the Jabra Pro 30's made?

I met a guy with new Resound Vivia aids and since i have new Pro 30’s i was interested in his feedback. As we shared what we like and dislike, he mentioned he was gonna get the Jabra’s but found out they were made in China, so went with Resound because they were made in Denmark. I had never heard thus before. I asked him how he knew the Jabra’s were made in China and he said he googled it. So i googled it and i can only find an answer saying they are made in china. The box my aids came in has no MADE IN anywhere, same with manual. So, where are the Jabra’s Pro 30’s made?
If they are made in China or Malaysia, is that how Costco sell these aids so much cheaper than the Vivia’s?

More of the cocktail. Jabra and Resound are both GN company brands. If you were making identical parts, would it make sense to set up two factories? Why not make the Resounds in china then? Save lots of money. I don’t believe it. I think they are primarily made in Denmark. Jabra does make a lot of product in china. But when you whitebox a product or cross brand it, it doesn’t make sense to set up another production line like that.

My wife’s grandparents owned an egg-producing poultry farm. The same eggs came out of the barns and went through the same machinery. Washed. Dried. Candled. The packer machines sorted by weight and put them into cartons. We put the cartons over the eggs and the machine flipped it over and closed the carton (except for flats). The different stores provided their own branded cartons. Some were luxury. Some were cheapo discount stores. But they were all the same fine eggs. (The double and triple yokers were pulled out and went to Grandma’s kitchen!). It would not have made economic sense to have unique production lines…

Personally it actually wouldn’t matter one bit even if it was true, as they are exactly the same product (thanks WH) how about all the components made in DK and then assembled in China.

Check out how they make Phonak models, couldn’t find one for GN ReSound.

But even if it did as @WhiteHat says it would make no sense to set up two manufacturing lines to make the same identical products.

The Jabra Pro 30’s box has this label with GN Hearing in Denmark on the label (it doesn’t mean it was made in Denmark but I would bet a lot of money the Resound Vivia 9’s have a very similar label)

So one good Typhoon (or one bad presidential decision) wipes out your entire supply chain between you ‘only’ factory and largest market.

Speculation, but since Resound keeps it a secret, it’s obvious they aren’t proud of where certain parts and/or assembly lines are located.

It matters to me if they are made in China, but I don’t see myself paying $6k for the Vivias.

FWIW, I’m currently in the Jabra 20s. I paid $5k for my prior set of Resound 1s,

I never said it mattered to me where they were made, it mattered to the guy i was talking to.
And my original Pro’s have a sticker on the box that says, “Product of Denmark”, the 30’s have no such sticker at all. Im pretty sure in the US, products MUST be labled with country of manufacture so wounder how they get away with no lable at all, other than what is posted above in another reply. But maybe that is the lable?
And i can certainly see them setting up more than 1 manufacturing line especially when one aid is $1700 retail and the other is $8k.
But i was just curious because the gentleman i was talkjng to was totally convinced they are made in different countries and that the China made ones were inferior. And if they are made in China, im still not returning them for a made in Denmark aid at 4X the price. Thanks for the replies

Hmm, I think @WhiteHat’s argument is more convincing. It’s not trivial to setup production (and testing) for a product like this.

Companies make contingency plans, but they also watch their costs. Typhoons are just one of many things that can disrupt the supply chain, and often the easiest mitigation is simply to keep more inventory on hand.

That makes zero sense to me as many companies manufacturer in many different countries. Why would GN be any different. And China has tarrifs for imports from Europe so it makes even more sense for gn to manufacture there.
I have no idea where they are made. Some online info tends to point to gn making the internal chips in Denmark and assembly in Denmark and China, but it doesnt list what products

Ultimately it’s all speculation. And yes, I absolutely think GN will manufacture different products in different locations.
The question is whether they also manufacture the same product (EP 30 and Vivia are the same) in different locations. Maybe. Does it matter? Not to me…

Just curious why? You might ask this question when you buy your next phone or TV, even shoes etc remember it’s not just cheap stuff, all the biggest names use china/Vietnam for obvious reasons.

It’s not so much the country of manufacture that determines this pricing, it’s the retail/middleman, let’s see if we can find out where the Rexton and Sennheiser plus the Phillips are all made, now that should be interesting.

Oh dear it seems like you have a thing with me just because I didn’t like your uncalled for post about me when you said that “I must have been living in the woods” (all I was doing was trying help another poster showing them my charts in response to their question and you jumped in and started making personal comments). Let’s move on from that.

Second sourcing for catastrophe and/or geopolitical reasons is of course valid and yes quite common in manufacturing but back to the topic here. I have never seen a company make the exactly the same product in two different locations just so they can sell them through different marketing channels on the same continent(s). It makes no manufacturing sense.

Do they need second manufacturing location to have a second source? Maybe but that would be a different decision and nothing to do with the marketing channel they use.

I will take your $100 (actually UKP100 would be better in the current environment thanks) as I have been in the technology industry for just under 50 years and seen manufacturing locations (including second sourcing when needed) in every continent.

I called jabra, and they told me they could either be made in denmark, china or bloomington, indiana. But they couldn’t tell me where my particular pair are made

I recall seeing “Product of Denmark” somewhere on the box when my wife and I got our Jabra Pro 30s but it is not on either inner or outer box so I am now wondering if it was a label on the outer wrapper, but of course I no longer have that.

Product of Denmark is of course also vague so it could just mean designed in Denmark etc

Great, so you ‘know’ that there will be Primary, Secondary and Legacy lines running at several locations in differing jurisdictions. Some of them will be ground-up builds nearer large supplier installations (Suzhou): the Primary sites. Secondary lines will be run in places like Malaysia and Legacy Lines will exist in or near the Development facility.

There’s a further complexity in this market as there’s still a fair chunk of made. Obviously this is near to the market end and more likely in your locale: even if that’s technically a ‘screwdriver’ facility. However there’s a good likelihood if you have a aid there’s a good chance it was made in the far east.

There’s compounding issue caused by the Tangerine Twitler which adds another dimension to an already interesting supply situation.

As for targeting you, no dude, you’ve just made a few unsubstantiated points. Glad I’m living rent free in California though, as it goes, I’ve been surfing tonight too!
