I have a recent pair of Starkey Genesis . One didn’t fit well and had it redone. Fits better/different, but not perfect.
Audiologist did the fitting again. I’ve been noticing that certain voices sound distorted in that one ear. I think it is mostly when they make a percussive sound such as a ‘p’. I guess that is called a plosive. It seems to happen more when watching a video over my AV speakers (not so much in live conversations). And maybe frequency related.
Been trying to figure out how to demo to my audiologist and what they can do to fix it. It sounds a bit like some electronics are over saturating.
By chance, I pulled up some metal blinds and got a similar experience. I heard a distorted sound that seemed to come from inside my ear as opposed to from the blinds. I can repeat it but not at will; need to try a few times. I recorded the sound and when I play it back streaming I don’t get that effect. If I play it through high fidelity speakers, I can almost get the effect (in a more limited way). So it is difficult to demo. I can hear it a bit in both hearing aids, but much more in one than the other. I can hear the distorted blind sound a bit in both hearing aids, but much more in one than the other. Distorted voices I only notice in the one.
Is this a know problem with hearing aids? Is there an explanation of what is the cause and what I should be asking the audiologist to correct?
