Hearing aids with reading glasses and a mask. How to not lose the aids?

DaveL, wow, what you described about your Westie coming up to your lap when you have a migraine and pressing his head to your forehead—-that is so wonderful!!! I’ve had migraines for my whole adult life, so I really get it.

Thankfully, they are mostly controlled now, primarily from treating my Tick-Borne Diseases, and especially Bartonella, which can be Tick-Borne or cat, etc.borne, or both. I’m not done with it all, but that helped immeasurably. Along with Botox and migraine meds of all kinds.

For good diagnosis and treatment for Tick diseases and Bartonella, you need a good Lyme-Literate doctor. (That’s a whole other discussion, far from HAs).

Two things made a huge difference in my migraine issues. Well, three. First, I went on a treatment with beta-blockers in the 90s. That took me to zero while I was on the blockers, and then about 1/month after I went off the blockers. About 10 years ago I got a daith piercing when probably a dozen migraineurs I knew got it and saw remarkable improvement. Some had been disabled and were able to return to an almost normal life. I still had occasional migraines, but they didn’t hurt so much as making me feel depressed and weird. Lastly I started a massive diet change last year, based on two books, Ultra Processed People (Van Tulleken) and Good Energy (Means & Means). One minor headache since going on the diet: I was on vacation and might have been cheating.

Besides the headaches, I’ve lost a ton of weight and I’ve noticed other improvements.

I’m not sure if it’s overkill or a good idea, probably both!

They grab the inside of your external ear and keep the mold in the canal. If the part of the hearing aid behind your ear is dislodged, you are less likely to lose it because it will probably hang on.

Sorry to be dense but I still don’t get how it attaches to the inside of my ear. I have tulip domes, rather than molds. Does that make a difference?

I have recommended these guys to get the ear loops off the ears and connecting around the back of the neck. This way your hearing aids are not having to share the same space as the mask earloops.

Thank you, PaulC, others have said the same thing. That is surely the easiest fix.

Like Blue Pearl1, I didn’t get how the little, nylon wire of the concha lock could possibly prevent the hearing aid from falling out when pulled by a mask string or glasses temple arm (or in my case; taking off a tee shirt).

I still don’t get how they work, but the little gizmos do work well. The hearing aid can get rudely inked form the ear0 including the receiver, yet remain hanging from the concha lock.

It did take a few days for the nylon wires to conform to the ear, but now they lay right in. Note, too, that my receiver domes are the soft, silicone ones and usually they will stay in the ear (like a cork) when the device gets launched. But, if they come out too, the concha lock does its job admirably.

My glasses are only for reading and computer work, so they come on and off all the time—-frustrating! I am constantly dropping them, trying to find them, etc. My mantra has been, where are my glasses?

I’m going to get Scleral Lenses, which will fix that problem. they are for people with severe dry eye conditions, which I have. The lenses go over the whites of the eyes, with a raised cup over the iris, in which you put saline, which bathes the eye.

People like myself can’t get regular contact lenses, and aren’t able to get surgical correction either. I will also get them with progressives, so it gives me correction for near and midrange vision, plus a little for distance.

They are expensive, but will be worth it.

I am not familiar with Scleral Lenses but if you can get them as Multifocal contacts that may work best.

I have Acuvue Oasis Multifocal4 and I can see near, middle and long distance really well in my 70th year.

It looks like they have a "moist’ version version.

Yes, a)ssuming that the progressive aspect works out for me, the Scleral Lenses will really help, both to see better (especially near/midrange), and to not have to constantly take my glasses on and off, and drop them, and misplace them. Thank you.

What I need is beyond the lenses that you have, as the Scleral Lenses have a well of saline between the lenses and my eye, so I can tolerate the lenses with my Sjogren’s Disease.
