Update & Context
Just an update with some more thoughts on different fitting formulas. I had been having a horrible time making the transition away from my old Phonak Sky M70-M hearing aids into the new Phonak Infinio Sphere i90. Despite my old hearing aids being 7-8 years old, the new hearing aids felt like anything other than an upgrade. I had been through 3 audiologists in the past two months.
Background
I am a 24 year old man and have been using v5a Pediatric fitting since I was a child.
Switching to DSL
I finally said screw it and just switched myself over to DSL myself. The clarity is night and day difference. All of the other fittings are so QUIET to me. I love how loud and clear everything is on the DSL pediatric fitting. It’s a night and day difference.
Music Quality
Oh, and, the difference in terms of musical quality is insane to me. On adaptive phonak digital, every strum and note on my guitar sounds muffled and compressed, like the true sound is hiding from me. With the DSL, it’s honestly breathtaking and mesmerizing. It sounds like sound is supposed to sound to me.
Question for Others
Has anyone else worn hearing aids since childhood struggled with other fitting formulas?
