Weird Experience with Jabra 30's and old tv---Bluetooth?

Tonight I the tv on but muted. I had my newish Jabra 30’s on. Our tv is from January 2008—old! I assumed that we’d need a newer tv to stream—or a tv streamer.

A number of times my right only seemed to turn louder and had a swoosh kind of sound, and then stopped.

Then, in the right ear I kept hearing the faint sound of someone speaking, but without hearing words. There were two women speaking on the tv, still muted. When I turned off the tv, it all stopped.

According to it is unlikely that a tv from that time period has Bluetooth.

Would the tv having Bluetooth be the only explanation for what I experienced? I was in All Around with the sound down fairly low (still getting used to HAs).

Ha! My husband figured it out: I had a pair of headphones connected to the tv in front of it. My were picking up the sound from them! Duh.

On a totally different note: what makes the HAs sometimes squeak/squeal a little?

That squeal is usually feedback. If your domes are open enough, or you use custom molds with relatively large vents, sound generated from your receivers can “leak out” of your ears and be picked up by your HA microphones. Sometimes it happens more easily when the HA volume is set high.

These are pulp domes. Could it happen if I have squeezed them into my ears too much? Or, how can I prevent it; it happens fairly frequently. It’s not super loud, but . . .

It miiiight be related to the gain setting selected by the audiologist/fitter. It’s not as likely if your receivers are at proper depth in your ear canals, and the fit should be snug. I found tulip domes easy to insert to effective depth, and the fit was pretty snug. Sometimes wind, or your hair moving past the microphones can produce feedback, and if I put my hand over my ear with my hearing aid “bean” pressing my scalp I can produce feedback that way. If you’re having feedback often, you should communicate with your audiologist about it.
Edited to add: @Blue_Pearl1 - allegedly, earwax buildup can change the acoustic properties of the ear canals, and cause feedback by reflecting sound back out of the ears, allowing the microphones to pick up the sound “bouncing” out of the ears.

We have an appointment with the fitter at Costco on Saturday, so I’ll bring it up then. It’s too bad that the Costco isn’t really close, so I could just drop by. But we’re lucky that it isn’t much further away than it is. It’s about 45+ minutes away, and I don’t drive anymore, due to a horrible, distracting nerve pain condition when sitting..

Funnily enough, tonight I had my phone in my hand, as I’d been reading the news on my phone, and suddenly I started to hear a clip of the news coming from the phone into my hearing aids—twice it happened. I’m having these odd experiences as I get used to in our technological age. (However, paying attention to the news these days, especially in the US, is Not good for our health!).

Totally off-topic: On tv tonight there was part of a multi-day program about President Roosevelt during WWII up to his death: Talk about a different time and president! In the time where duty to the country and the world was the order of the day. Sigh.
