Yeah it’s the usual fluff the manufacturers push out, just to keep that old horse going a bit longer..

I wonder if this now clears the path for a Sennheiser ‘Orb’ to roll into Costco? Or will Sphere appear at other Sonova brands?

Agree despite being Phonak user. I even suspect (hopefully wrongly) than they transitioned from too conservative statement like “16 hours on one charge” to too optimistic like “56 hrs (…)”.
We will see.
EDIT: I’ve just watched Matthew Allsop’s video about the issue. It seems this could be true. Nice!

They’ve upgraded the and the autosense. I actually think it’s quite nice that they are pushing the upgrade out to previous infinios. For all manufacturers every other release is “just” a software upgrade (maybe two out of three, there are people here with good records on that who might be able to say) and this is the first time I can think of that a manufacturer has given it to existing users. I’ll be interested to see whether this is just one time, or whether it will change what everyone is doing for the future.
The battery improvement I think is BOTH an upgrade and them also transitioning to the way other manufacturers report their max battery life. I know they are removing the 3 hour cap on the sphere program, so there’s a real improvement in there.
I hope Oticon comes up with something cool. I was so impressed by the Opn and I feel like since then it has been pretty incremental.

11 hrs in continuous manual Spheric Speech in Noise program is very convenient.
I had one situation (only one, I admit) when at the party I have to transitioned to Paradise 90-RT + RogerOn set after 6.5 hrs, because the party lasts from 8 PM to 4:30 AM.

Not just Oticon but Widex, Signia and Starkey – It seems to me that Phonak is the one coming out with super exciting features: Spheres, Virto Infinio R, this firmware. Like you said, I feel the others are just making incremental changes (Resound Vivia/Enzo do have new interesting features IMO).
