Zoom volume too loud -- using both FMA120 and C82 Aura

Is there any way during a zoom conference on Windows 11 to turn down volume into Resound Vivia from FMA 120 or C82 Aura. buttons turn it down a little bit, but audio from HAs is still too loud. No Windows or zoom audio settings I can find work to reduce the audio.

I’m guessing you’re using Broadcast mode with the FMA120 for your Zoom call. In Broadcast mode, the volume is controlled individually on each receiver, so the transmitter doesn’t adjust the source volume.

With the FMA120, you can just pair your hearing aids in High Quality mode instead. This lets you adjust the volume directly using the system volume slider, and your hearing aid microphones will stay active — so there’s no need to rely on your PC’s built-in mic during calls.

If you prefer to use your computer’s microphone, you can simply select it in your Zoom (or other app’s) audio settings.

With the Avantree C82 Aura there is a settings option from which you can adjust the volume.

This can be done via the Avantree Firmware Updater make sure you are updated to the latest firmware. This then gives the settings option which enables various setting to be changed to suit your requirements.

I have a Mac. I have used updater software to try to lower the volume without success. At least on my Mac, the software updater volume slider doesn’t seem to do anything.

Renaming and deleting passwords seem to work okay.

When I connect, the updater always shows the Aura to be in HQ mode. I can stream to my aids, so I guess it is in SQ.

Are you using a Windows machine? Do you have these problems?

Whatever I do, I find the Aura slightly too loud.

I am using the Avantree Updater on a Windows 11 machine and the sound slider works fine. Maybe it is Mac issue?

Thanks for that suggestion Ranson,

I cannot get this to work on the High Quality mode on my FMA 120. As soon as I switch, I no longer get any audio to my ReSound Vivia hearing aids. You mentioned “pairing” … do you mean explicit blue tooth pairing to the FMA 120, or pairing somehow in the floo-cast app, or doing something different in the Resound Smart 3D app on my pixel phone ?

Thanks for that pointer … I do not have a settings tab in my Avantree Firmware Updater. My FW is at 20.4.5 and I have been unable to update to anything newer. Avantree knows this and it is apparently a known bug on some of their devices. They has a new device in the mail to me. I am doing this under Windows 11.

Hopefully the replacement device will resolve this issue for you.

I am also using the FMA 120 - with regards to using this in the High Quality mode as opposed to you will need to pair your aids to the FMA 120. Instruction on how to do this are in the user guide which if you haven’t got this to hand it can be found at this link

Thanks Mark, I was able to get the FMA 120 to work in the HQ mode after disabling bluetooth on my phone and reenabling pairing by placing my in and then taking them out of the charger at the same time as removing and reinserting the FMA 120 … I sort of forgot that needed dance to do this.

Then to go back to for my TV output, I go back to re-pairing with the phone bluetooth.

This solves the volume control problem for zoom meetings … just have to go through the re-pairing dance each time I switch.

Hi Greg

You should only need to turn off the phone Bluetooth for the initial pairing of the FMA120 and your hearing aids. Once the pairing has been established you can turn the phone Bluetooth back on.

THE FMA will retain/remember the pairing with your hearing aids and enabling you to reconnect to FMA 120 without re-pairing.

My aids are the Resound Enzo IA rather than the Resound Vivia Resound but I believe that the /Bluetooth features for these aids are the same

Just like @MarkS mentioned, the FMA120 will keep the pairing and automatically reconnect as long as it hasn’t already been connected by another device (like your phone), since ReSound hearing aids don’t currently support multiple connections.

You can also switch the FMA120 to Gaming mode. In this mode, the audio is streamed with very low latency and no noticeable drop in quality, as long as you stay within roughly 10–20 meters. If you need to maintain higher quality over a longer range, use High Quality mode instead.
