Okay, how long should I try Adel, and how much hearing could I recover? Should I still use Adel to hear afterward, or should I continue using my hearing aids? You could arrange a video call, but I don’t speak English (I use Google Translate to write here).
So the whole goal is to get you off of hearing aids/hearing device’s and the dependencies on them, have you regain all of your hearing and have you going back to the ADEL’s not because you need them but becuase you want them enjoy listening to music and for fun . Yes we can set up a call with translation why dont you send me your email on a private message here and ill set it up x.
I’m also unclear. There seem to be two product channels: 1) the ADEL monitors sold directly and 2) third party items using an ADEL filter. Is there any difference between these in terms of hearing recovery? Why do hearing aid and earbud companies not license the filter? In some videos it mentions there’s a filter that can be placed under the earbud material. Wouldn’t offering that approach be much less costly for consumers than the monitors?
How is the sound of one’s own voice if using this for calls?
Is there data which stratifies the effectiveness of using ADEL for different patterns? It could work for some and still not work for most.
While many earbuds are not vented, most hearing aids are. Many hearing aid wearers have stable hearing loss which seems to support the problem ADEL aims to fix is not present in most hearing aids?
Who else said they’re unclear? I can’t see that comment anywhere and I’d like to address it.
You mention the ADEL filter, can you expand on this? Are you referring to the bubble?
I’m not entirely sure how to answer how the sound of one’s voice is on calls. I’m not sure I could have answered that before I lost my hearing either! Can you help me here by giving me an example? How does your voice sound with hearing aids or AirPods etc when on a call?
You said “It could work for some and still not work for most.” I’m intrigued by this. What’s the date you have to back that statement up? Or is it experience with hearing aids not working for people? That’s my experience. Hearing aids wouldn’t work. Not any type of them.
Am I incorrect in saying hearing aids focus on volume? I know when i tried them it was just an assault of volume on my ear. The whole point of ADEL is to allow your muscles around your ear drum relax they absorb the pneumatic pressures caused by sound. They offer low input volumes and in return give a big sound… are there any hearing aid companies offering this? If so, can you send links that show the research they’ve done please?
I’m enjoying our chat! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and questions

I’ve had a zoom call on this, and some of the explanations are a little unclear, but I did go into the call, without realising what it was about. I did enjoy the call though, and I’m sure there are benefits to this technology.
However, I rarely play guitar now and have never used in-ear monitors. It is unlikely that I ever will either.
For general hearing, I currently use deep set moulds with a 3mm vent on various Phonak aids, and do not suffer from any occlusion.
I see the 4 main issues of hearing aids as:
1: Clarity
2: Feedback management
3: Occlusion
4: Risk of further loss
Whether the ear lens could be retro fitted to existing aids would interest me too. I doubt this option is a commercial priority for ADEL.
Hey Lello58 Hearing is believing If your interested,I would be more than happy to set you up on a zoom call with Stephen Ambrose and the team behind it x
what you commented about is exactly what Stephen is able to do on a daily basis, and have lots of videos of people experiencing this, and folk that can be invited here to the forum to tell you more. The ADEL is not being mass produced yet..but it will be. Things are getting exciting.
A lady visited me from Europe to try them, that was scheduled for cochlear implant surgery, she has now cancelled her surgery and her audiologist had taken back her hearing aids as she doesn’t need them any more and is now hearing on her own.
we aren’t attempting to put anyone out of business, thats not how we operate, but we do want to let people know that there is another way and an alternative that helps you to hear without making deafness worse. We want to spread hope, awareness and another way x
Why does it seem unlikely? I’m sure when people were using candles they couldn’t imagine a light bulb. And even if they saw a working light bulb they probably couldn’t imagine ever having it in their home. The candle didn’t drop off the planet when we got electricity.
They laughed at people for bringing the idea of bottled water to the world. Look where we are now! Look at history and how people reacted to something before it became the norm. An open mind backed with understanding can lead to some amazing changes.
Many scientists around the world are searching for a cure for deafness, and many hearing aid brands are doing everything they can to create a hearing aid that comes as close to natural hearing as possible, not to mention cochlear implants. If what you’re telling me were true—that this Adel device would allow me to recover my lost hearing and thus throw away my hearing aids—all those people I described above would quit their jobs, and Adel would be talked about everywhere in the world, while in fact I’ve only heard about it here. I’ve done some research, and I think I understand that what Adel can do is protect the hearing of those who, for work or pleasure, listen to music or loud noises. I asked how it could help me recover my hearing, but I didn’t get a clear answer. If it could just help me recover 50% of my hearing loss, I’d be the happiest man in the world!
Someone had to be the first to space. Many failed. It’s been evolving since. I don’t know about you but I can’t imagine humans colonising planets but some one can!

Wouldn’t we all, but highly unlikely.
I can see the benefits for totally occluded in-ear monitors, and the added sound pressure, but not for general hearing aids, that are vented for those with loss less than profound. Candles and bottled water just aren’t relevant. Perhaps free trials would spread the word better than wanting thousands up front, which instantly switched me off.
The opening spiel is all about in-ear monitors causing hearing loss, so this admits hearing loss is a thing.
Later in the spiel, it is no longer a thing, and your hearing loss can be restored!!!
Before we talk to Stephen, why don’t you explain to me in simple terms how the device works? How can it restore my hearing? How long do I have to wear it? How much does it cost?
Most hearing loss is due to death of hair cells in the cochlea. These don’t grow back. Next cause after sensorineural loss is conductive loss due to an issue with bones in middle ear conducting sound from the eardrum to the cochlea. I honestly have a hard time believing that there is any real (objective, as in testable) improvement for either of these conditions. Although I can imagine people reporting subjective improvement, just like someone that just spent $500 dollars on a fake engine performance improvement often can “feel it when I accelerate hard!” Tests on a dynamometer are the only way to tell. Is there a paper documenting how this heals sensorineural damage? Even damage from genetic causes? I think I know the answer.
I have sensory loss and conductive loss. I couldn’t hear anyone speak on the phone with my right ear. I couldn’t hear instruments. I was told forget it, that it won’t come back. That there is zero hope.
I got the ADELs a few months after the loss and after trying hearing aids etc. More importantly Stephen was helping guide me by passing down his knowledge. A few months after this I was on the phone to my mother and naturally put the phone up to my right ear. I complained she was really quiet and asked her to fix the phone…took me a few minutes to realise I could hear her, albeit quietly, in the ear I was told was gone. I wasn’t wearing the ADELs for this call.
You said you think you know the answer, want to expand?
That’s funny man! All the world tours of /DC aren’t actually happening in your view? My story is a lie is it? Is there much point opening a conversation with this manner
Is there a way to get people banned who use profanity and attack because they’re so uncomfortable?
The whole point of ADEL is to allow your muscles around your ear drum relax they absorb the pneumatic pressures caused by sound.
Not how they work. Maybe it’s just unclear. Are you trying to imply. . . what? I actually just don’t know. Are you saying that hearing loss is caused by tense middle ear muscles? It’s not.
