Floogoo FM120 Compared to C82 Avantree

That is not fully offline. The updater pulls the files from the web each time. If the updater disappears in the future we will not be able to switch back and forth.

I have seen an upgrade pack, life time for 10$, it allows you to get different firmware. i.e. upgrade the cheaper audikast 4 to audikast4HA.
Broadcast name change, Encryption modification

Does it say anywhere that it will do that? Change broadcast name and encryption is what I’m seeing. Things that the Avantree firmware updater for the C82 Aura do for free. I’m still not clear on the differences between the 4 and the 4HA though.

you simply click the link, the 2nd picture says it all. then compare the 4 vs 4HA, you get all the features.

So the differences between the 4 and 4HA are that with the 4HA you can change the name of the broadcast and encrypt the broadcast. Plus “hearing aid optimizations”? And those optimizations would be… defaulting to 24khz sampling rate? It doesn’t seem enough to justify the difference in pricing. I’m not even sure it’s enough to justify the $10 US for the upgrade tool. I’m wondering if there’s a little bit more to the 4HA.

my intent work with the C82 LEA 24bit/48khz without issue, some brands might not accept higher sampling rate, there might be more compatibility brand wise, I don’t think 24khz is a thing. at least for all, but maybe they are capped at some bandwidth. I can hear a difference with intent between 16bit and 24bit, it simply has a different dynamic range.
well optimization might simply be quirks unique to 1 brand. oticon and resound were the first stable with Le audio then starkey. we can only speculate what optimization might be, but I would like to PW protect my cast. I simply think the main features would be PW and rename cast for 4HA and maybe focus on LE audio instead of all the aptX we don’t need anyways.

Do these dongles work with any tv, for instance a 6 years old LG tv?
I suppose they do work with any PC.
For information I have an iphone 13.
Thank you

tv doesn’t have usb. audio out, it simply has usb without audio. for tv you would most likely need the audikast.

you need to be careful, some dongles only accept digital audio and some iphones only send analog audio through usb-c.

These work fine with PC and tablets.
For a TV I would recommend the Avantree Audikast 4 which gives an option of connecting to a TV with either Optical (TOSLINK), 3.5 mm AUX connections

The FMA120 will soon have a sister version features a 3.5mm input so you can also use it with your TV, if you don’t mind a 2 weeks wait on Amazon.
The FMA121 provides all features that the FMA120 has, just adds a 3.5mm port and you get all unicast/broadcast or even receiver functions in a tiny 3.3cm x 3.3cm x 0.7cm form factor, whether you want to use it with your TV/projector or bring it on airplane.

Many UK users have purchased their FMA120 from Amazon US. We’ll look into offering it directly on Amazon UK in the next few months.

Hi @Ranson your amazon USA link on your website doesn’t seem to work, any working link to amazon USA?
Thx

It will be available once Amazon completes the processing, hopefully within 10–15 days. It will appear on the same page as the FMA120 as a model variant, similar to how it’s listed on Amazon AU.

Does Avantree have a device which will allow me to pipe my MacBook Air M1 audio into my Rexton Reach hearing aids? I bought the Floogoo but the configuration instructions are too complicated for me at age 89 and it seems to require access to a Windows computer which I don’t have.

Hi @Nate , if your FMA120 came in our new packaging, it already has firmware 1.1.4.6, so you don’t need to update the firmware or install any app.
To pair, simply place your Rexton Reach hearing aids back into their charger, wait a few seconds, then take them out to enter pairing mode. After that, plug the dongle into a USB port. It will automatically search for and connect to the hearing aids.

Does the C82 continue broadcasting when the stream is paused or skipped or does it stop and you have to restart it?

I use the C82 Aura with a laptop. The Broadcast continues and does not require restarting.
Very occasionally (less than once a week) the audio will stop but is very simple to re-start by simply unplugging the C82 from the USB port and plugging it back in.
The sound quality and stability of connection are very good both with this device and also the other devices I own (Avantree Audikast 4 & FlooGoo FMA120)
