Good morning my friends, i have a pair of Airpods 3 Pro but unfortunately i can’t benefit of the hearing aid feature because i live in italy and here the feature is not activated. But…when i saw in the supported country page i read Vatican City is supported. So, i live in Rome, Vatican City is 20 minutes far from my home. The access to vatican City is free, you can walk around piazza San Pietro and other places with ease and without ask the permission to anyone. Do you think if I go to have a walk in piazza San Pietro could do the trick to activate the feature? It could be insane!!! XD XD XD.

I know that once the feature is activated you can go back home and continue to benefit the feature.

So, I’ll give you the answer in a couple of days, on sunday maybe because i’m busy at work theese days, but i want to know your opinion in the meantime.

I can’t speak for the Vatican but what I’ve heard from Canadians is that they can cross the border to the US , activate the AirPods Pro hearing feature and go back to Canada — that trick works for them.

Hi Marco, nice to hear from you again, no my Active Pro IX are still on sale, i’m really curious to hear the difference between them and the airpods 3 pro as hearing aids…hope the trick will work.

Anyway I will go to Amsterdam with my wife in january, so in the worst case i’ve just to wait 1 month to have the feature activated.

I have not tried it (since I am in a supported region) but for those will a tech inclination if you are a Linux user or have a spare android phone you have rooted you can apparently enable the feature from anywhere with ‘librepods’.

ok John, so today after work i’ll go to vatican city to see if the feature appears in my iphone with my ears prods pro 3, I hope it’ll work, if so i’ll I will greet the Pope on your behalf too.

my dear friend, my 5 minutes journey to Vatican City did finally the trick

the hearing aid features was enabled by restarting my iphone and my airpods once i was walking around Saint Peter’s square…in Vatican City…inside Rome…in italy ( where the feature is not enabled)…XD XD XD

I’m sorry for that but this thing makes me laught and really happy.

Now i’m in a test period for airpods as hearing aids but my first impression is that they have nothing to be jelous abot my SIGNIA Active PRO IX i paid about 10 times more.

@JohnSmith keep in touch i’m interested in your experiment too…to help people who don’t have this fortune.

You will very much need to turn up the brightness and amplification, depending on your as the defaults are too much towards comfort. Prescription sound they are not from what most people say but I found pretty good for especially at the price. Your problem will be the brightness control likely has the same impact on L & R.

My only fear is to power off/restart my iphone and maybe lose the feature…i think i’ll never power off my phone from now XD XD XD anyway vatican city is pretty close from where i live :sweat_smile:
