@cvkemp - I have to agree with you. I love that my Phonak Naida Paradise P90 loaner can connect to my TVs and computer without having to use the awful connect clip device.
And, when I do connect, the sound is quite clear indeed.
CV, I have too many questions for you. I received Phonak Audeo Sphere i70 about 2 months ago and have had continuous problems, mostly with the TV Connector. Problems such as muffled sound, varying volume NOT due to TV programming, inability to hear my wife sitting 5 feet away.
The were returned to Phonak for “servicing.” No change.
Right now, I am back to my old, excellent, much less expensive Phonak Breo 3. I wanted to replace them because they shut off occasionally, by themselves. They are 7-8 years old.
Questions:
1 - have you tried the TV Connector? My wife does not keep the TV volume up high enough for me to hear comfortably without cranking up my HA volume to maximum. Not good!
2 - IF yes, did you find the sound quality (frequency response, etc) to be the same as without the TV connector, or did it sound muffled or dull?
3 - have you found ANY value from the Phonak app?
4 - what is ULTRA?
5 - what is ROGER? Mentioned in the user manual, but not explained.
I’d also appreciate comments from any other Phonak Audeo Sphere i70 users! I am considering rejecting these within the trial period and trying another brand even though I own a TV Connector.
Copying the settings from another model is only a starting place. Different models, even within the same brand, have greatly differing sound reproduction abilities.
No I didn’t have the TV connecter. I have the Roger ON3 microphone and it doubles as a TV streamer.
The Roger ON is a Swiss knife type of device. It can work like a personal mic, a table mic, a pointer mic, the TV adapter. My understanding it is expensive. I am a veteran with disabilities and my aids and extras are my benefits. The Ultra is a firmware update that improves battery life, and a number of other improvements. Your audiologist needs to update your aids.
The Myphonak app is the first app for hearing aids that is truly useful. Now guys don’t scream I haven’t tried the Resound aids are any others lately.
You can make a number of adjustments to your aids with the Myphonak app.
You should watch some of the YouTube videos about the Myphonak app and the Phonak Spheres and the Ultra upgrade.
Went to our church for the Men’s breakfast, this being December we had the sweetheart breakfast for our wives. With anout 125 to 150 in our fellowship hall it was noisy to say the least. But I didn’t have any issues hearing my wife or others talking, this was wonderful and a first for me. I had issues hearing any conversation with the INTENT1 aids in that area. I didn’t need to engage the Spherical program, the Spheres switched automatically and did a awesome job.
I am finding that I don’t need the volume so high on the TV even when not using the streamer or the TV program. I am not sure but I believe it is the fitting of the ear molds and smaller vents but it could be the deeper more bass sounds, less high frequency and or not as soft sounds. I am also.finding that I don’t have the volume as high for streaming audiobooks or even calls.
We are all individuals and who knows I may end up with some other brand in the future. The key is what works for us as individuals, not what works for others or for everyone else. I haven’t ever felt like I needed to follow the crowd.
My surgery was quite rough but I’m now feeling myself again.
I haven’t tested the ReSound Enzo IA yet but I do plan to get one for my left ear. The same company as you bought your Phonak from, they have told me they can get hold of the ReSound Enzo IA.
I am not sure if my audiologist actually does a copy and paste. But that he manually does it from my hearing aids fitted. But it was a solid fitting. Yes of course there are some differences, actually improvements.
Here goes with my comparison between Oticon INTENT1 and Phonak Spheres. I still haven’t been in every possible environment yet. The weather hasn’t allowed me to get out in the forest on the trails much. And I have my Vespa Scooter weatherized and in hibernation.
While I found the Oticon INTENT1 aids to be what I will say softer sounding than the Spheres my overall relaxation by way of my heart rate and blood pressure is better with the Spheres. Why? I don’t stress or strain to understand speech as much. I haven’t needed the TV streaming as i can hear and understand the TV with the Spheres by way of the Myphonak app TV program, with the INTENT1 I needed the TV adapter. With the INTENT1 aids I need a higher volume than with the Spheres, this has led to the lesser stress when wearing the Spheres.
With the Spheres there is a lower volume level of background noise but it is there and I appreciate it. With the INTENT1 aids dialing down the background noise dials down my speech understanding, with the Spheres speech is brought to the front and still at a comfortable volume level with the background noise there at a lower level that I can pay attention to if I wish.
Sudden loud sounds are were bad with the INTENT1 aids at times, but with the Spheres it seems the sudden loud sounds get muted just enough to note be such a shock.
Streaming as we know is more limited with the INTENT1 aids due to MFI and , and even with le audio, I have to use the connect clip for everything but my Samsung S25FE phone. With the Spheres I have connectivity with my phone, watch, Kindle, Fire tablet and older android tablet.
Battery life, understand that my Spheres aren’t updated to Ultras, and my INTENT1 are not updated to the . I am actually seeing better Battery life with the Spheres. I stream about 5 hours a day, and I am in noisy environments between 3 and 5 hours a day. The battery life od the INTENT1 aids is about 20 to 22 hours the Spheres is constantly over 32 hours.
Road noise and wind noise isn’t a problem with either set of aids. I believe thst has to do with my custom ear molds. Speaking of ear molds I believe that Phonak has done a much better job with the fitting of the ear molds than Oticon.
