Update: the problem seems to be solved now (hopefully permanently).
I cleared the cache, force-stopped the app, and restarted my phone. After that I walked around the house and even ran the vacuum cleaner without any issues occurring.
Thanks so much, everyone!
Suddenly, this evening, my hearing aids started sounding “program change” tones every few seconds. I opened the app and it showed “RogerDirect + Mic,” which I didn’t choose, nor did I remember ever having that program before. I switched it to Automatic, but it returned to the Roger Mic program again almost immediately. I switched it to Restaurant, but even that made no difference; it returned to Roger Mic.
I should mention that while I do own a Roger Mic, it is currently upstairs and turned off.
Just in case it was interfering somehow, I uninstalled the (separate) Roger Mic app.
Still the problem continued. I tried turning aids off and then on. I tried turning off Bluetooth and then back on. I tried unpairing my aids and re-pairing them. The problem continued.
I visited the app in my apps list. (I have a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra). There was one comment from December 10th that complained of something similar, but no other comments about problems that sounded like mine. Also notable was the fact that the latest update to the app was installed in October, so a new update wouldn’t seem to be the cause of tonight’s problem.
I sent a message via the app to the Phonak people.
I checked the MyPhonak App while I was writing this post and the Roger Mic program name was no longer displayed as a choice
A few minutes later, It was back. As soon as I made my original post, the Roger Mic program reappeared (along with the sounds).
Has anyone else experienced something like this? Please advise! Thanks!
Katy
Editing to add that it’s still going on this morning (Saturday). I’m about to try the excellent suggestion now and will report the results shortly. Thanks everyone for the great advice!
