Sennheiser hearing aids not working with Samsung phones

Just got an email from Sennheiser and they stated that Samsung needs the 18 software version to work with their hearing aids. Why the Hell keep that a big secret from their vendors? My phone is a 15 system with no upgrade support. I am furious right now. Another big bucks purchase to make the paperweights work. My rant for the day.

Are you talking about the or the Costco version?
Android 15 is a relatively new version of Android, 16 is the current version. If you are referring to Android ver 18: That doesn’t exist

Costco version. Their Customer Service is horrible. Months of contacting them and now they tell me about the phone requirements.

Just FYI: according to my Costco fitter, Costco fitters no longer work with the HA sales reps (in fact, she said they are not allowed to call the sales reps). They can, if needed, contact the HA company’s technical support people. My fitter did this for me and my Philips 9050s. But I think the Costco fitters and their customers are at a disadvantage when the fitters can’t get information (like Samsung phone compatibility requirements) from the sales reps.

Could you please unpack this a little more?

Are they saying you need a Samsung phone model S18 or upwards? The S15 will be 11 years old now and that is ancient in phone age!

Or do you mean something else altogether?

The programmers are using 18 for everything now. New Samsung S25 comes with Android 15. Samsung says it is still their base unit. Costco knows nothing about this.

I think someone has got their wires crossed.

The very latest Android version is 16. Version 17 is due to be released as a beta very soon.

Samsung uses its own custom version of Android, One UI, which is officially on version 8.

Version 8.5 beta (which I have on an S25) uses Android 16.

BUT there is no Version 18 anywhere. So whatever you’ve been told isn’t correct.

So, to be clear, what is it you are trying to do, and why can’t you do it? And what equipment are you trying to do it with? Hopefully we can help you untangle this knot.

You should be able to use Bluetooth even without the app.

This doesn’t make sense to me. Are you saying you have a S15 or an A15. I have a 2025 Moto G power and the most recent update is android 16 which is current. My fitter made sure the Sennheiser worked with my phone before I decided to buy also you have 6 months to return the ’s at costco. I went with Sennheiser because my phone doesn’t work with other option he had for using my phone with calls and the mics on the HA to be used. So far so good with calls and Teams meetings on my laptop.
