Phonak Infinio I90 Non-Sphere Rechargeable Battery Problems. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a fix?

In the past 3 days, my right hearing aid unit (the main one; both my main unit and are rechargeables) Phonak Audeo I90 non-sphere - has dropped sharply in battery performance. Instead of 65% in the middle of the afternoon (3:00 p.m.) which is what it normally is, the rechargeable battery is 20% by 11:00 a.m. (from 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.)

This is new and not normal.

I have not changed my bluetooth streaming habits, which are always 24/7 with the exception of sleep.

I have my:

Work computer connected
Home computer connected

(with either one streaming depending on my needs at the time, be it meetings or just streaming from my personal computer while I work),

TV connector connected.

This is how it has always been. Why is my battery draining to 20% by 11:00 a.m. all of a sudden?

By the way, my CROS unit is fine. It is still 84% at 11:00 a.m.

For streaming, one is the master and the other follows. Your audiologist can set either aid as the master, but the default is usually the right side. My right side is always down a small amount in charge as compared with my left side at the end of the day.

While a battery issue is possible, maybe there is something that is engaging with the right aid constantly, that is pulling down it’s charge. As a test, you could get the audiologist to swap the master HA to the left. If it gets depleted faster, you know it’s one of your devices. The right HA still loses charge, you will know it’s the battery.

Try a hard reset of the . Hold the bottom part of the aid’s button for 15-30 secs. That may clear your problem. You wont lose any settings etc if you do this.

My Phonak’s keep their charge more than 12 hours. In fact I’ve never had the battery wear out. Perhaps the problem is either the charger or the hearing aids. Go back to your audiologist…they are under warranty.

Thank you so much, @Hooby!! I believe this has actually fixed it. Because now, after 2+ hours it’s gone from 100% to 87%, instead of 100% to 60% like it has been doing. And it’s on its usual streaming and connection habits today.

Thank you, thank you thank you!! You saved me an audiologist visit and replacement of the rechargeable battery under warranty. Haha.

yes, when i had the non-sphere it was my left that was only holding about 4-5 hours of charge. audiologist had actually replaced the left side for me, and it still persisted. the hard reset seemed to work for me! i’m glad it worked for you as well. fingers crossed you’ll have no other issues for a long, long time :slight_smile:
