t is my understanding that all Jabra products will remain within GN, including headsets, speakerphones, speakers, earbuds, and what is sometimes referred to as the gaming segment.
Likewise, the entire hearing division, including manufacturing operations, R&D, and all corresponding teams, is part of the transition. We are hoping this will be true.
Most times when a company is bought, there is an immediate decline in service and over all production. First, there are layoffs as the new ownership tries to financially recover whatever was paid for company XYZ. Then there is the possibility of relocating bought-out company workers to a new location. Which is always unselting. Then there’s the new management, who might or might not know what the heck they’re doing.
I decided long ago not to touch Siemens hearing aids with a ten-foot pole, since Siemens was a huge multinational conglomerate that made tanks, trains, jets, etc. That combination mixed with made no sense to me at all. Then, I guess in 2015 Siemens sold its hearing aid division.
As I see it, Phonak, Oticon, and Starkey seem to be the only HA brands left to go it alone, or shall we say, just specialize in manufacturing hearing aids. The rest of the competition is being swollowed up by bigger fish, who might or might not have a clue what the heck they’re doing.
I’m interested to know what will happen to Ci bimodal users now?
This interests me as well. Could be nothing for a long time or being positive it could mean a better hearing aid provider comes in. Oticon Medical is already part of the Cochlear group.
Based on the letter received from GN, there is no indication that Jabra is included as part of the deal. We have been told that operations will remain unchanged and that the brands will be preserved as they currently exist. However, the absence of any reference to Jabra leaves some uncertainty regarding its status. Jabra is the GAMING part of GN.
That’s interesting… Since the prescription Jabra Unhand Pro30 hearing aid is a rebranded Resound Vivia, I can’t imagine the future (ReSound-less) GN continuing to develop or update their own, separate advanced prescription level hearing aid line. Time will tell and we will be watching.
Well they own 15% of the world market. So they will make more money, if they are really clever they will put more in research and develop better hearing aids. Problem is, when a company is sold usually the talent leaves for better choices given the uncertainty.
Yeah that’s interesting, they do mention “audio and video” so Jabra are into headsets in a big way, how is that gonna come close to making any more money for GN then , the video part in wondering what that is exactly, developing games?
In al the publications I read, and the letters, no mention of Jabra, I am not sure about the gaming part, never paid attention to it. But Keep us posted, I will try to do so. thank you!
@Raudrive this proposed merger could have been discussed between the 2 companies for months/years. As GN’s latest 2 aids Nexia and Vivia were never made for Cochlear’s recipients. When GN released these 2 aids in Oct 2023 Cochlear sent emails around telling us they won’t work for the bimodal recipients.
the same was said when apple had hearing aid mode, “game changer” blah blah blah. What its most likely happen is, the top talent @ gn will go to work for Sonova and or Demand. While amplifon will be integrated they might loose focus. Lets not kid ourselves, its been a while since GN had launched a product with significant traction, they are loosing market share.
Not according to GN’s 2025 annual report.. This report claims their market share has been increasing for the 4th consecutive year (see the highlights in the report below). 35.2% margin is very respectable.
“* The Hearing division took market share – for the 4th consecutive year – leading to 5% organic revenue growth…”
" * The Hearing division delivered organic revenue growth of 7% in Q4 2025 driven by continued strong performance of ReSound Vivia. Divisional profit was DKK 671 million corresponding to a divisional profit margin of 35.2%"
Where did you see that they are losing market share?
