This week I have to choose between Starkey custom molds and Widex Allure. Can anyone tell me their experiences with the Starkey CIC?
I’ve gotten mixed feedback on connectivity & random ear shut offs on the Widex Allures but don’t know anyone with the Starkey Genesis Ai connectivity and random shut offs
I tried the Allure for a couple of weeks. I really wanted to like it, but I found it frustrating. It seemed to have bluetooth issues and the available controls that could be implemented on the buttons appeared poorly thought out. It was unable (despite marketing) to do hands-free calls on my recent Android phone. I’m now on a Virto R.
Appreciate your input. Your response and the earlier spreadsheet comparison sent out on Starkey Omega (finally got it right!) has convinced me that Widex Allure is not path for me.
I will try the Starkey Omega ITE hearing aids and have notified my audiologist.
Thank you to those posting responses to me on this topic. You were all very helpful in teaching and giving your input to me.
Just to follow up on my original post on Widex Allure vs Starkey Omega . I tried the Allure’s for one month. The speech quality was quite good & to me close to natural sound hearing for a hearing aid.
Unfortunately the constant dropping of Bluetooth control and a problem that I still don’t understand that caused the Allures shutting off the devises off while riding in car with no action by me was not reasonable. My audiologist order a new right side hearing aid but after waiting 4 weeks with no delivery (unclear if factory issue or shipping/customs delays) I returned the hearing aids under my States 60 day no-fault return contract law.
I then purchased the Starkey Omega AI devices. The Starkey delivery after sending the molds was two weeks vs a 5 week wait for Widex. After this roughly equivalent time using the Omega AIs as I used the Widex have not experienced a single Bluetooth drop or any unexpected device shutdowns. The speech sound quality is good, not really sure if I could truly say one is better sound than the other but obviously my hearing is not great or I wouldn’t have to use hearing aids.
Happy with my switch and confident in Starkey customer support and their MyStarkey app.
Really appreciated the person on this thread who did the spreadsheet breakdown of pros and cons of the devices including Allures and Starkeys. I’m not very good at that type of detailed approach so it helpful see their hard work
