Jabra Pro 30 problems with phone calls and hearing in noise

I am experiencing problems receiving phone calls with my hearing aids. When I receive a call I cannot hear any sound through the hearing aids for a good deal of time after accepting the call, so I keep saying hello until the caller responds. I have spent hours researching this problem to no avail. The only work around I have found is to answer the phone using the speaker, then switching to the hearing aids.

The other negative of these hearing aids is the lack of my ability to understand speech in noisy environments. The hearing aids suppress background noise in quite obvious fashion without making it possible to hear the person across the table from you. I have tried all the settings and adjustments without finding much improvement in hearing in these situations. I made the mistake of trading Philips 9050’s for the Jabra Pro 30 hearing aids, because at the time Jabra was the only Costco hearing aid to offer . The Philips hearing aids are excellent for hearing in noise and dong so seamlessly.

The positives for the Jabra Pro 30 hearing aids is I find they do a good job of amplifying voice from a greater distance than any other hearing aid I have used. The Auracast, which I use daily, while watching TV is great. I have no issues at all with it;

On the Hearing in Noise issue - Is it possible you bought the disposable battery version of the Jabra 30s? Only the rechargeable version has the extra chip that improves the Hear in Noise function (over my Jabra 20s, anyway).

My Jabra 30s take a long 2 seconds or so to connect to a phone call after I answer. Something I just live with, but I don’t get a lot of calls.

I agree on the TV streaming being excellent. Very important to me.

I recommend calling Jabra and asking for help from Google’s disability group.

I had a raft of small, intermittent problems with a new Pixel. What eventually solved almost all the problems was resetting my Pixel to factory defaults and reinstalling my apps. Somehow the Jabra app installed incorrectly and neither Android nor the app recognized the problem. Worse, deleting and reinstalling the app (both Jabra and Resound 3D versions) installed with the same error.

It’s a real PITA to rebuild one’s phone, but it may beast living with the problem you describe.

ETA: WRT hearing in noise, I’ve had conversations with eth EP30s that I haven’t been able to have for 15+ years. My experience with the Hear In Noise program has been great.

I don’t think there’s a design error. I think there’s probably been a fitting error.

Thanks for the input. My Jabra’s are rechargeable. It sounds like your phone answering is like mine. I bought an Transmitter for $50 on Amazon to connect to my TV. Works great.

I had the same issue and returned the after five months; it seems you got stuck with a defective product design that affects the entire generation. I’ll wait to see if they make improvements to the Pro 40 in the next few years.

I have the Widex Allure, and am impressed how well the phone call function works and sounds.. Two taps on an ear to answer, and the sound is very good.. significantly better than my iPhone’s (SE3) ear speaker.
