The Phonak Sphere i90’s don’t have the fall alert feature. If they did, it would be a part of the motion sensors (accelerometers) that work the double-tap function on the hearing aid.
With more processing power, the Phonak sensors now go beyond double-tap sensing and adjust microphone directionality during walking and collect health data.
Like most users, I like the double tap. I don’t care about the health data, which seems to be a feature of everything nowadays. I guess if I buy a new toaster, it will come with Bluetooth and health tracking.
If you have faulty motion sensors in your Starkey, then the other motion-sensing functions, like the double tap, will be flakey also. Test those. If they work properly, then you likely don’t have a hardware problem.
Testing a trial pair for 30 days with your audi is a good idea. It would give you a point of reference on how the motion sensors work in another pair of Starkeys.
I watch for reported sphere i90 problems across the internet using bots and haven’t seen any reports with motion sensor malfunctions in the Phonak brand.
If the Phonaks had a fall alert that went off while my wife was watching American Idol or The Voice, then I’d have to wait until the show was over before I got any help.
