Which phone is most compatible with Phonak?

My aids are 5.5 years old so they will likely die within a few years. At the time of purchase, my iphone stalled out at times and the shop told me to switch to Samsung, which has worked perfectly with the Phonaks. My phone has died, so I need to know whether to go with Android or iphone for those old aids and likely for new Phonaks as I noted. My audiologist always recommends Phonaks so I’ll likely just buy Phonaks from them when I’m ready to upgrade.

I have the Phonak Spheres and the Samsung S25FE phone and they work together great. Phonak aids will work with almost any phone that has Bluetooth. But the Myphonak app needs Android or IOS to function.

Phonaks use universal Bluetooth connectivity . All iPhones and almost Android phones with Bluetooth work. They can connect to almost every device has had Bluetooth.

I recommend an Android phone. I currently use my iSpheres with a Google Pixel 8 phone and they work very well together. The Pixel also includes and runs Live Caption quite well, so I can caption my calls as I listen. And they work well together for streaming.

I wear Phonak and have both Android (phone) and iOS (iPad) devices. Bluetooth connectivity is far smoother with Android. Moreover, audio from Android phones is far more configurable in general. Don’t get yourself locked in in Apple’s hermetic ecosystem, is my advice.

Agree, I have Iphone 11 and Phonak ’s, they work OK but incoming calls often go straight to the phones speaker, not the aids, so then I have to press the button on the phone which is a nuisance.

I have the Phonak I90 Sphere and the Pixel 10a, they work well together, to answer the question in the OP.

What has not been mentioned in this thread is that the Android device has a built-in Live Transcribe app which is quite good for one-on-one conversations, IMHO (beyond the Live Caption app for this particular hearing situation)

I have not used Live Transcribe nor Live Caption much yet (not much need so far) but they are tools in the toolbox if need be.

I got a Pixel 8 now. It keeps notifying me that Phonak is using my Bluetooth, however it’s not working - the voice of a person talking to me on the phone is going thru the air. Obviously I installed the Phonak app, since I’m getting the message, but when I make a call there is no Phonak symbol on the screen like there sb. My neighbour sold the phone to me - he’s diagnosed paranoid-delusional so he had every privacy enabled and trackers disabled, so it’s a matter of figuring out what’s missing. Suggestions?

I did that uninstall and re-pair now, but the situation didn’t change. Icon that showed up on my previous phone is missing from my phone when I call now. Phone says paired, and Phonak says it’s paired successfully.

There’s two different Bluetooth pairing, classic and LE audio, did you do them both, got a screenshot of your pairing.

So still needs to show another pairing, I think those are for the App, calls and media use classic, hopefully someone here can walk you through, I thought the yt video guide should help.

A Pixel is not identical to a Samsung. They have different buttons and there isn’t a “classic pairing” method for Pixel. I watched the guide video you provided for a Samsung and did a somewhat similar pairing for my Pixel, which is the same procedure that I did last week.

There isn’t a specific Bluetooth setting in a Pixel. I posted earlier that in “connection preferences” I have Bluetooth selected, and NFC off. That Bluetooth button in “connec pref” was on and is still on. That’s why I keep getting the message “Phonak is using your Bluetooth.” ///////// My tv is paired to my Phonak adapter to my aids using Bluetooth. It has worked for a while, so I know the aids work with that Bluetooth.

Yeah the TV streamer uses Airstream not Bluetooth as such, but anyways you just shouldn’t be having an issue like this, have you got “developer options” I wonder if your paranoid neighbour has been fiddling around with settings there?
But let’s see if the Phonakians can help you out.

My tv settings says it’s BlueTooth. I did a hard reset of the aids, reinstalled but it’s the same problem as before. It seems an unlikely coincidence that the iads malfunction when I pair them to the new phone, but the other phone doesn’t work so I can’t check that way. But I’ll pair it to my neighbour’s phone in a few hours to see if that works.

Sorry I thought you ment you had the TV connecter streaming to your , but you actually have the HAs paired directly to the tv, ok so next make sure you only have 2 devices connected at a time, this is the maximum allowable, you can have up to 8 devices paired tho, so check this, unpair from tv and make sure HAs are not connected to anything else and try your phone again.
