Phonak Sphere Locking Pin

Hell everyone!

On my spheres, I had to change to my backup receivers so I can send my regular ones in (they sound crackly now). I almost lost the tiny locking pin that holds the receiver in…thankfully I didn’t. Are these tiny little locking pins available for purchase anywhere just in case?? I can’t seem to find them!

Challenge #2 is seeing if the in Manila can send my receivers to the US and return them straight to me! (service connected).

Why do you think you need to remove the pin to change receivers?

My audi instructed me how to change receivers on my Sphere and she was certain that you do not need to remove the pin to change receivers. Just make sure you hold it near the connector as close as possible and pull straight.

Or are you using Ultras and are they different from the original spheres?

For some reason, the pin wouldn’t move out far enough so I could pull out the receiver, so when I pulled it out just a micrometer to release, this caused it to come out all the way. Fortunately, I was able to put it back in properly. They’re the Phonak Sphere regular ones.

But Phonak’s instruction does not mention the pin at all.

I have custom moulds on my Sphere aids. I bought a spare pair of receivers and wires which I ordered with the new aids in case one fails. Howeve, I cannot see how to change them. On my Lumity aids there was a small pin you pushed partly out to release the plug but the sphere aid lacks that pin near the plug. I can see a hole almost on the underside near the end of the aid’s body but it is 6mm away from the end.

I have removed a receiver as one did fail, but there is no pin to remove on my Sphere’s, I just pulled the receiver out and plugged in the new one.

That video is for the Audeo Lumity - not the Infinio Sphere. PeterOo link above shows the Sphere. On the Sphere you do not need to touch the pins to remove the receiver.

I have the Infinio and I can confirm what you said, there is no locking pin.

The video below , from Phonak , shows how to remove the receiver from the Sphere. No pins.

The Sphere uses the SDS v6 receiver . It’s the same for all Infinios

Well, here’s mine along with the locking pin / locking pin tool. I have the spheres and it has sphere mode Also a screenshot of them connected to the app…

Wrong. The receivers don’t come out unless the pin is pushed out. My audiologist gave me this tool and showed me how to take the receivers out. Does anyone know where I can get more of these locking pins?

As Neville said, there is no locking pin for the receiver wire on the Infinios. The pin your show in your picture is for opening the case. If you pushed that out, you will need to send the aid to Phonak to be repaired.

I’ve provided you with the official instructions from Phonak and, you say Phonak is wrong .

If the told you to change the receivers yourself (I’ve never heard of this before, for an aid that is under warranty) and, gave you the instructions you say, tell the AuD that you followed the instructions she/he gave you and that you lost the pin .

Those pins are not available for sale so , regardless of what we can say here , that aid will need to get repaired .

BTW , @Neville is an audiologist. He knows what he is talking about (he is not wrong as you say)

You don’t have to buy the pins. Just call Phonak customer service at 800-679-4871 and explain to them the pin came all the way out when you pushed on it to change your receiver.

It’s not supposed to pop all the way out. You have a defective one. Phonak will send you a bag of pins at no charge.

Have you actually done this? Phonak will not ship repair parts to end-users .

This does not apply to the Infinio . OP used an incorrect procedure .

Phonak , on their web page , says their CS will not assist with hardware issues , fittings , etc (pretty much their support is for the app and ). For anything else , they are pretty clear you must contact your provider . See link below for details:

This is true with lumity and earlier. Audeo Infinio is friction fit - they just pull out. It is a hard pull, but that’s all there is too it. My clinic mails receivers to me regularly as the ones I use only last about six months. Saves me a trip.
