One of the use cases for has always been cinema. That is now a reality as Vue has installed the technology in 18 of its venues, and I’m delighted.
When Vue first opened in my town – as a Warner Bros cinema – it had an infrared system, which I could never get to work, and staff had no clue as to how it operated. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever been to any venue and had a successful experience with infrared. But with many hearing aids not even coming with a /loop even if it was working that was denied to me.
So now we have Auracast arriving; people can bring their own devices or borrow a receiver unit which works with headphones or neckloops. Where possible in addition to the film soundtrack, a second Auracast stream offers audio description. Finally, a glimpse of the future!
For those based in the US, Vue is one of the largest cinema chains in the UK, and also operates in other European countries: Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Poland.
I’ve written about it here: https://aurahear.com/2026/07/uk-cinema-chain-vue-installs-auracast-in-18-venues/16
