When setting up new aids, is there any use in looking at the settings in your old aids?

This is pretty sad. Audiologist/fitters should do better.

My first thought after reading your post was to ask for a different fitter. Maybe they will ask why and I would recommend telling them the truth.

Your post is also why so many go the diy route. This forum has been so helpful for so many!

You can request the graph I suppose. I would be pleased if a patient asked for this, but I can imagine others might not be. 🤔

But there isn't always a record of the CURRENT fit. Often clinicians will do REM and then make adjustments from there and may not have a copy of the final settings, or may have taken a measure in test box to compare future repairs against, but the test box measure won't be identical to the on ear measure. Still, it's good overall information to have.

I'm going from memory.

When you first open Target, before opening any saved settings or connecting to your hearing aids look at the top bar towards the right & you should see an update button. Press it & you will be able to update both the software and audio files.

Does one need the audio files? It seems they can't be uninstalled on their own and instead one would need to backup, uninstall, reinstall without audio files, restore.

I ran an update and that did the trick!

I've clicked through most everything, being very careful to not change anything. I have a few question points that I'll try to dig into tomorrow.

I don't really want to change anything much right now anyway; I mainly just want to better understand how they're set and what I need to ask Costco to change for me....

The biggest head scratchers right now

1) I know that he changed my ambient microphone when streaming to be -2bB, I watched him do it...but what i'm seeing is -6db

2) and I notice that he seems to have the feedback manager set different right to left. I have a minor feedback issue so I'll want to look a little closer at that.

3) one of the two situations I've had real problems was speech in the car....couldn't understand my daughter sitting right next to me. I don't see anything obvious to change there.

and 4) my other problem was in church, very echo rich building. I don't know what mode autosense had me in there, but I don't see any echo settings so far....

Why would you want to uninstall the audio files unless you have limited storage? I have a small speaker system with a sub woofer connected to my PC, & find the audio files to be quite helpful when trying different settings. That said, I don't think it's a requirement to have them.

It's definitely not required to use the software for programming one's .

This is probably my case. I had MedRx -based fitting almost 1 year ago and despite 5.0 PEDIATRIC, it was too quiet...! 😶😶 Is this a common situation?

When I'll get proper cShell 0UP with no vent, I'll go to another place this time with Audioscan Verifit2 equipment.

Really, there is no file that can be exported, e.g. to NOAH?

  1. More directionality/beamforming.

BUT when insufficient:

  1. More gain to high frequencies (or mids also), because, IIRC, they're less prone to bounce from walls.
  2. I don't know if your has something like formerly existing EchoBlock

I meant a final copy of the . If they didn't repeat it after making adjustments in the software, then no there's nothing anywhere. If a new provider had the entire NOAH file then they would know that changes were made post-REM, yes, but if they just had a print out of the REM and a print out of the hearing aid settings then they wouldn't know.

No, not with an open or near-. The Verifit has gotten better at predicting venting effects, but it's still not perfect. If it's a closed fit you can get very close.
