I am now using resound power domes with Resound vivia M& aids. I’ve been using them for about 3 months and really like them. I’ve been doing my own programming. My audi did not talk about these new AllFit domes. The double power dome works good for me. I learned about these AllFit domes when I started programming. In the program under dome choices it came up as the best. My audi mostly likely used older domes because the newer AllFit are expensive. Hard to find them at reasonable prices. They don’t look that special but if they give a tighter fit that would be worth it.
Very interesting info. I have never used ear molds or have a desire. Thanks for the pdf. It has a lot of detail I haven’t seen before. The resound power domes I now use are Surfit 3 connection on the receiver. My left ear takes a large but my right ear takes a small. I have a little trouble inserting the right dome. It doesn’t seem to go deep enough into the channel. A medium seems to give me more feedback. I like a fit that pops when I take domes out at night. Nice & tight. I am always looking for the best fit.
I thought I’d start this thread as @Ureout and I are about to start using Omnias with M&RIE receivers and we can perhaps use this thread to describe our experiences and invite anyone else with the same devices to share their experiences as well. There is already a thread on ReSound Omnia vs. the Phonak Lumity but in that thread all the posters except me, I think, were just using standard receivers, not the M&RIE ones. Resound Omnia vs Phonak Lumity
I also didn’t want to (completely) hijack @1…
Consider earmolds if it is possible with M&. Perhaps @jim_lewis has more knowledge in that issue.

It’s been almost 2 years since I’ve worn my Omnias with M& receivers fitted with ReSound silicone molds and using Select-A-Vent. I don’t remember too much about them (very happy with Spheres - a game changer, as other folks say). But I had a very occlusive vent size (little or none) on my molds. The two reasons being, first, to get better beam-forming with my and prevent omnidirectional noise from leaking past my receivers to my eardrums. And, second, to reduce the potential for feedback between the M&RIE microphones in my ear canals and the receiver speakers.
If you have relatively good low-frequency hearing as I do, occlusive molds really reduce random leakage of sound to your eardrums, allowing the HAs to better deliver only what you want to hear. And if you have substantial loss in the low frequencies, IIIRC, an occlusive mold can help prevent bass from escaping out of your ears and increase your bass perception.
I’m not very up on giving HA advice. I’ve been in a set-it-and-forget-it mode with the Spheres for two years. I used to always carry my ReSound Multi-Mic with me, but the Spheres have largely eliminated the need for a remote mic in extremely noisy situations. It will be interesting to see if Phonak can manage to improve upon them any time soon.
For me, another decided advantage of molds was I found them a lot easier to clean than domes. I hate cleaning domes….

Yeah, I have earmolds for my whole life and power domes since March 2025. That double domes cleaning is annoying! Fortunately, I don’t produce much wax.
Like @jim_lewis, I like more occlusive earpieces, then the directionality and noise reduction is the most effective. I found that even traditional (non-) noise reduction and directionality (Speech in Noise Phonak program) is quite effective with power domes.
EDIT: To reduce chances of occlusion effect. I had eapieces deeply inserted. END of EDIT.
I recently returned my cShell with UP and no vent because it slipped out easily. This is under warranty.

Must be a difference in ear canal shape (or the technique of the impression taker or mold maker). My molds have to be firmly pushed in, then pinched and pried out to remove. I don’t have any feeling of fullness in my ear canals while wearing them (oblivious to their presence). But if I knock my off from behind my ears, they’ll still happily dangle from the receiver wires attached to the molds firmly plugged into my ear canals (don’t recommend trying this experiment!).
I have from concurrent order, new titanium cShell tomy spare Paradise and it’s perfect. Unfortunately, I wanted 0.6 mm vent, but manufacturer made 1mm, because it is minimum in titaniums (or you can choose no vent). That has a P receiver, which makes it easier to fit it inside the shell.
The problem is, Phonak manufacturer (probably in Wietnam) didn’t “listen” (read) my requirements. When I wrote I want no vent to make cShell deeper reaching and make UP receiver easier to fit inside, they have made thicker ending than in previous cShell, which makes a problem with slipping out. Look:
Don’t worry. I’ve been fighting for the perfect earmold for a year now. Strictly speaking - for 16 months now.
During that time I had got them a few times, because manufacturer not fulfilled my order requirements, i. e. they gave AOV venting instead of pressure vent, smooth surface instead of rough, etc.
They also didn’t informed that they can’t make 0.6mm diameter vent in titanium cShells, minimum is 1.0mm…
In December I’ve got cShell with UP receiver and 1mm vent diameter which worked somew…
I haven’t tried the spheres or any other brand except resound. When I recently tried the Resound Vivia I was so happy with the improvement from my old aids, l was sold. One reason I stayed with resound is I like the music program. I like being able to fine tune the music program as I’m playing my guitar. I don’t use the music program for anything else. I have very poor low frequency hearing. I am happy with domes. For me they are easy to clean mainly because I have little to no ear wax. I lap swim twice a week and that seems to help. I never change the receiver because of wax. I use the Jodi vacuum cleaning for domes etc.
When I went to buy the vivia aids the audi recommended I not get the M&. She said she replaces them because the wire breaking at the receiver. She recommended the standard receiver. I could not find any where on internet that that was a problem so I got the M&RIE. It it did fail it should be easy to replace or change to basic receiver.
Does the spheres have many programming adjustments that you can make? I still have a lot to learn about programming these aids.
M& receivers have a couple of challenges. They are very prone to feedback and the mic filter on the receiver gets plugged frequently by most people. That, combined with a lack of power, and it becomes a very niche item probably best worn by an audiologist who understands the challenges are inherent in the design and need to managed. Otherwise they can generate lots of complaints and dissatisfaction, which can lead to a poor view of the services provided.
found this thread using the search for "allfit" but it doesn't look like anyone is using them yet. i've been primarily using the surefit medium open domes on my jabra ep30s since i still have some decent low frequency hearing left in my left ear. i should probably be using tulips but i don't like how they feel. i'm also a diyer and saw the allfit dome option in smart fit and was intrigued. i can only find purchase options for these domes at omni hearing, temu, and ebay so they don't seem to be widely available at the moment.
omni has various dome 10-packs for $13 and i'm hoping the smaller vents on the allfit open dome will improve the bass response when listening to music on my hifi or with open-back headphones. @Beamer, if you are still interested, i will update you on my experience. and i'd love to hear from anyone else that has an opinion.
I couldn't find the Allfits, either. Like @LarsRR, I didn't like the feel of tulips. I switched from tulips to power domes and find them much more comfortable.
Yes, I'm still interested in "ALLFIT" domes. I bought a 10 pack of allfit on ebay for $14. Small (power) double domes. Everyone else selling them ere expensive. The domes looks super small. I now use a small surfit power dome in my right ear. This allfit small power dome didn't even come close to a tight fit. I like to measure widest part of dome for comparison. This small allfit measured 7.5 mm across. I now don't have any use for these domes. My left ear takes a large dome.
I never liked the fell of the tulips either when my hearing was not so bad. I will look at omni hearing and ebay again. I am just guessing what size I need. I'm having a hard time using this forum with all the recent changes.
i did the same thing, ordering a 10-pack from someone with good reviews and who was cheaper than omni hearing. they are supposed to arrive later this week. hoping the medium size is similar to the surefit medium. i'm not expecting a huge difference but once i watched the audiology online promo, i needed to sate my curiosity.
it would be extremely helpful if resound would make a variety pack in a couple of different sizes. if the open domes work well, and the new silicone material feels good, i'll give the tulips and closed/vented domes a try.
I don't believe you'll ever see a variety pack. Everyone makes more money selling 10 packs. I think my audi is still trying to use up older domes which I understand. She did not even talk about the new allfit domes.
I keep reading that the microRIE should be deep in the ear canal for best results. That will also help with feedback if you get a good fit. Once I adjusted all the gains, etc. for all programs I than retried different power domes. What I found helped getting the domes in deeper, once I determined it was a good fit, was to wet canal with very little water. The downside is having it go to deep and coming off when pulling aid out. With surfit connection less likely to happen. Interested hearing from others if any problem with that.
I ordered the Allfit sleeves in the large size from Omni Hearing to replace the large Resound power domes. Should have ordered the XL version of the sleeves as the L were a looser fit than L power domes. Also it you use the retention lock on the receiver, you either need to remove the retention lock or make a notch in the sleeve.
I personally think the Allfits are a bad design due to the possible sound dispersion caused by the rounded nipple/tip as the sound seemed to be muffled in my testing.
After each change to different earpiece, a new fitting is required. If AllFit has more earplug effect, you have more insertion loss which have to be overcame by more amplification. That should be measured and fitted ideally with .
I received my medium open AllFit domes from ebay last week and switched out the same sized SureFits immediately. Since they are considerably less open, I expected a better bass response and when I listened to some electronic and jazz music on my bass-challenged, open-back planar headphones, I was not disappointed.
I live near a Costco and stopped in to ask if they were carrying the AllFits yet and was told they had just got them in that week. I requested 2 pairs of tulips and 2 pairs of vented/. I was given a small container of domes and I left. When I got home I opened it and found 3 pairs of medium closed SureFit domes so I will need to go back. They came out of box labeled AllFit so I'm not sure what happened.
I have since used Smart Fit to program my EP30s for the new dome and that has tamed the bass slightly but I am happy with how they sound and feel. For comparison, the new medium AllFit open dome is on the right, with both sitting on a dime, in the image below. If you live near a Costco and are curious, you might want to give them a try.
