I ordered the AMP 2 312 model from Costco a week ago on Oct 15, 2026.
The Costco Hearing Specialist brought out the AMP 2 mRIC model just to compare with my current AMP 1 RIC 312 model.
Since they had the AMP 2 mRIC model in the store, I assume you can buy it and take it home. Of course, you will need an appointment to get the fitted to your hearing profile.
When speaking with Soundgear, they said the AMP 2 models are same as the Starkey Omega 24 models.
Soundgear also said the AMP 2 (Starkey Omega AI) is an improvement over the AMP 1 (Starkey EDGE AI) models. The AMP 2 is $100 cheaper and has an additional 1-year warranty in comparison to the AMP 1.
I hope to receive and start using the AMP 2 RIC 312 model in early November. It will take a bit longer because of the custom ear molds.
Interesting that Costco is selling the replaceable battery option (all the other brands they sell are rechargeable). That plus its is cheaper and it has a longer warranty.
Does the disposable battery version has fewer features than the rechargeable ones? (Like some other brands)
Please let us know how it goes. You are the first one reporting the AMP 2
Appears Soundgear is trying to establish a foothold at Costco. Having a battery model aid with and having a 4 year warranty is going to be appealing to many customers
I am going to give my local store some time to get comfortable with the Soundgear aids and will pursue purchasing them myself

If you are nearby one of the original 100 Costco stores that started selling Soundgear in Dec 2025, then those Specialists are superb with the Starkey ProFit software.
Alyssa of the Burbank store said it took her a while to know which adjustments to make for the initial fitting. I saw her making a series of small changes to better fit my hearing profile.
Otherwise, I’d advise waiting 6 months for the rookies to learn with other customers.
I wonder if those new stores will experience a spike in returns simply due to inexperience and misfits❓

The San Antonio store we go to sells the Soundgear aids. About a month ago I asked the fitter about these aids. He said pretty much what you said, lack of experience fitting them has caused returns and unhappy customers. He also said the Rexton aids fall into this as well. Hopefully that changes for the better. They are great aids.
How much does this familiarity matter to an audiologist? Or is this a function of the doing too much by rote and/or not having sufficient training and time?
I went to my local Costco this morning for an appointment I had to adjust the Soundgear Amp 1. While there I asked about getting the new Soundgear Amp 2 and the Milford store can not sell them yet because nobody there has been trained on the software yet. So I could return them but they can't order new ones yet. I have to get a new hearing test but there is a six week wait to get booth time so I have an appointment for 11/22/26. At that time they said they should be selling the Amp 2 and they will have the paperwork done to return the Amp 1. I'll have to use my old Aids untill the new ones come in about 2 weeks later.
