I’m new here but my 9 year old hearing aids stopped working the other day and I’ve been educating myself at the expense of this forum and various other endeavours of research around the web. Wow what a difference 9 years have made!
Well a visit to my audi to day was interesting. 1st I let her talk me out of Costco and also ordering a pair online. She told me Costco puts a chip in their aids so they can only be programed at Costco. Is this true? According to her the online stores also do this and of course Miracle Ear.
That said, She showed me the Resound Linx 9 and Linx 7 ($6200/$4500) I’m a tech savvy old man and am intrigued with the techno stuff so of course I’m drawn to these.
My questions:
what is the real difference between the 7 and 9?
is it true the Linx aids can only be used with the apple devices that have the lightening connector?
if that is true has anyone tried an adaptor to interface it with an iPad 2?
doesn’t the control happen with bluetooth? why need a wire?
Is there an Android app for the Linx?
please humor me if any of these ?'s sound naive.
I may have posted this twice, sorry I’m still trying to figure this all out.
I know I’ll have more questions as I learn more about these.
o one more: where to get the cables needed to program these yourself. It seams in an earlier post the s/w is available.
Thanks in advance for any much needed advice, I really don’t know how informed my audi is but she says she has experience with a few of these.
I have the resound 7 and right now you do have to have at least an iPhone 5 or iPad mini with retina or iPad Air. I really don’t know what makes the linx 9 different. I am a nurse and work in a very noisy environment and my linx preform better than I ever expected. I also heard that resound is working on an android app. The app allows you to adjust the volume as well as treble and bass. One feature I really like that saved me was the find my hearing aid locator built into the app ( went to put my hearing aid in my pocket to use a Bluetooth ear piece for my phone (streaming to hearing aid in a noise environment is possible but not great) and I guesses missed my pocket got all the way to my car and realized was not there went back to where I thought I might have dropped it and the locator led me right to it. There is at least 2 entire thread on here about the linx. Personally I love them just hope your Audi is better than mine
