Most of the pens are listed without a year although I have seen 2016 & 2017 listed. I’m sure there is a way to know the year by the serial # that you can sometimes see by zooming in on the picture. Not sure the year matters much. But EBay is iffy. Prices for 1.1 pens seem to be $100-$150. The Easypen are cheaper but may not be as good. My advice is to play around with the select for a while and hold off on the pen, I don’t use mine.

You need the Select first to get the Roger stuff transferred to your Marvel. Then you link the Select and pen together or switch between them. If you are like me it will take a couple of hours to figure it all out. ENJOY!!

This was weird. I have been trialing a Roger Select iN for a bit over a month. I got it working fine. I also managed to get my “receivers”, i.e. my , to get signals from someone else’s Roger Select. But this past week, I had to turn in the Roger Select that I’d been trialing and get a shiny new one.
That’s fine, and I got the new one working for all the normal things, talking to my spouse in a restaurant, streaming from the TV, etc. But then, when I went to church yesterday, I was no longer connected to the Roger of the woman who makes the pastor wear one at church. Why would my having gotten a new device cause the other one to stop working? I’ll do an explicit repair next week, and expect things will be back to normal. But, why should I have to do this?

No, she didn’t do anything with the receivers, and the new device paired just fine with the receivers that had been installed when I was doing the trialing.
The only thing that comes to mind is that initially I paired the two Rogers together. I’m not sure why, but it seemed to make sense at the time. So, perhaps now that I have a new Roger, my friend’s Roger doesn’t recognize it because they weren’t “introduced”. I’m not sure that makes sense, but I can’t think of anything else.

Yes, introduced or "linked " .
But is still interesting that nothing was done with the receivers. They had to be transferred from the select to your marvels. If they weren’t put back then perhaps there was some transfer from the new select to the old one. Or, maybe you now have 2 sets of receivers.

She said the receivers didn’t need to be reinstalled. We just had to pair the new Select with the receivers installed with the demo unit. That’s what we did, and things just worked with the new Select. I’m not sure why that would affect the receivers that had already paired with someone else’s unit. Likely, I’ll find out this coming Sunday.

I was wondering if they removed the receivers at the end of a trial,Maybe Not.
how are the receivers installed into the marvels from a select iN ? just got the call that my select is in but probably wont have time until friday to go get it.

There are 2 receivers in each IN device. On the back of the select there are 2 little holes that you have to insert some kind of pin into that transfers the receivers from the select into the marvels. Not sure how you put them back in, probably the same way. After that you can pair with the bluetooth button.

The Roger Select iN kit comes with a little thing like shaped like a jeweler’s screwdriver with a pin on the end. The audiologist pokes something inside the battery compartment with the device. Presumably, they’re inserting something.
I don’t know if they take the receivers out at the end of a trial if one doesn’t buy a Roger Select iN. Since I was buying a new one, my audiologist said she didn’t have to insert new receivers. She kept the device that came with my kit. I’m guessing she’ll use it on the next person to do a Roger trial.

i am not sure when i read trough where the snags are in your case.
However from the Select iN you install only license keys in to your
As i know the availability of the licens is shown on the select . If on the select are two green signs (LED)
That mean that the device contain the key. If you transfer it to the HA than they will be no green light.
On the beginning i got also problems to Pair other receivers to the select .
So maybee it would help if you delete all existing pairings from the selct and make a fresh reboot of the select.
In my case that helped.

Not sure if I should resurrect this old thread, but I’m basically posting an update to it.
So, I’ve finally figured out the issue with poaching someone else’s Roger feed. What seems necessary is first to pair the two Roger devices together. Then, one must re-pair one’s own Roger with one’s . Once that’s done, the poaching just works automagically.
So, I got a “new” Roger a bit before Christmas. I was no longer paired to my friend Janis’ Roger at church. With the trial Roger, I’d been paired with Janis’ Roger anytime we were in church together. So, the next week, I paired Janis’ Roger to my HAs. That was good for that one day, but my own Roger got unpaired in the process. I didn’t realize that until later in the day.
So, the following week, I paired Janis’ Roger with my Roger. Then, I repaired my Roger to my HAs. Now, when Janis and I are at church together, I’m once again automatically channeled into her Roger feed (at least for today anyway). I don’t need to have my Roger on, but I did need to do a repairing.
Now, to figure out the problems with connecting my Roger with the TV. If I use the docking station, which is allegedly attached to the TVs digital audio, it works very differently from the way it works if I connect through the phono jack on the side. Completely differently. The controls in the myPhonak app seem to be backwards. … or perhaps I’ve done something else wrong in the Rube Goldberg set up between the TV and the docking station. Stay tuned…

As long as this thread is back - an update from me. New. Years Eve I was sitting at a noisy table in a noisy restaurant with a noisy bar and a noisy band. All I heard was a lot of noise. The select works great in “normal” noise but not in very noisy noise.
But I was able to have a reasonable conversation with the person sitting next to me as long as she looked at and spoke to the select on the table between us and not to me.

And I’ve now figured out the issue with the docking station. It works as a TV streamer when I have the toslink connector hooked into the toslink output on my cable box, but it won’t work with the S/PDIF-to-toslink adapter that I bought, with the S/PDIF connected to my TVs “digital audio” port. I’m not sure why. It could be that the digital out (S/PDIF) of my elderly TV doesn’t work, it might be a different protocol. I’m not sure how to cross check, so until I get a modern TV, I’ll settle for the phone-jack option.
Since I rarely watch actual TV, but mostly do DVDs and Chrome cast, the cable box output isn’t of much use.

My select works from either the audio, headphone, or digital output on my TV. No difference in sound. Works as well as the TV streamer. Later this week I’m taking a trip and planning on connecting it to the flight entertainment system.

What is the cost for installing the Roger Direct receivers, to use an older pen My audiologist who has no experience with this, says she was quoted a price of $2,600. A new iN pen should cost a lot less than that.
