Going from Oticon OPNS1 to More1 aids

For me, I have the IPhone settings for my aids set to automatic, if my iPhone is the phone connected to our Jeep then my iPhone sends calls, and if I am using car play my music or audiobooks to the Jeep entertainment system. If my wife is driving then her phone is connected to the Jeep entertainment system and my iPhone streams directly to my aids. This my preferred setting and it works great. They only thing we have to do manually is select which phone to connect if we are both in the Jeep.

I’d think no matter what, turning off the Bluetooth on one device should have suffice to enable BT connection to the other device. Having to “Forget” and re-pair each time you switch seem to be quite extreme and doesn’t make sense.

My Audiologist is in touch with the Oticon about the new More options and accessories. The more than likely will not be getting any of the updates until after the contracts are renewed in October or November. I am most interesting in the firmware update, but also hoping for one of the travel chargers.

You were able to connect your OPN (not the More) directly to your car’s Bluetooth without a ConnectClip??? I didn’t know that it was possible. I thought that the OPN would need to connect via a ConnectClip to anything that’s not iOS based.

Hi cvkemp, from an OPN1 user. In another thread you posted a list of hearing problems (copied below) that eerily described my own hearing issues. Have you had enough time with More1 to say how they are or are not helping with these problems?

You put me in front of someone with a heavy accent even in a very quiet environment I struggle, but with any other noise of any kind I am totally lost.

In the Jeep, with just me and my wife, even with the stereo on at a moderate volume I have no issues with talking to my wife, but you at a second or third person to the mix I am lost.

You put me in a reasonably sized room with 8 to 10 men doing the social distance thing, and with everyone taking turns talking I have no issues. But if more than one is talking at the same time I am totally lost.

You add a face mask to any environment I am at a loss.

If I am watching a movie that has music as a background to actors talking the music or sound effects drown out the speech for me.

In a restaurant that is reasonably sound controlled and I am at a table of 4 or less I don’t have issues with the speech. But if the restaurant is like the more modern ones with the high ceiling and concrete floors, I have issues with understanding even a waiter standing beside me, and carrying on a conversation is iffy.

In church I have little to no issues understand the sermon or announcements.

If the choir is singing and the organ is playing it over powers the choir, but if the piano is playing and not the organ I do not have any issues with the choir.

I have no issues with wind noise, echoing, or road noise.
I am sure there are other examples I am not thinking of.

I love the More1 aids, due my hearing loss I still have issues with people with mask or individuals with heavy accents. No issues in the car most of the time. Wind noise hasn’t been an issue. With multiple people talking it depends on the people men seem to easily drawn out female voices. But normally I can use the MoreSoundBoost and it takes care of the issues.
When I am tired or not feeling good my hearing takes a dive. Even with the much better aids that the More1 aids are I am finding now that the condition that my brain is in is the big difference now. If I am fresh and feeling good I hear much better. If I am tired or not feeling good or distracted then I don’t hear as well.

Thanks for the helpful response! It appears the sound booster started with the OPNS, so that could be a real benefit for me. I also experience the negative effects of physical or mental fatigue on hearing.

Do you notice any difference in your modern restaurant scenario? It’s really hard for me to understand a waiter (I never really know what the special is), and conversation is pretty much impossible. And movies that have music and dialog at the same time are pointless for me (fortunately most local theaters have closed captioning devices!).

Yeah Chuck, that is precisely one of the main reasons I purchased the Noahlink Wireless, and D/loaded Genie 2.
I updated Genie 2 to the newest, and it updated my More 1’s to f/w 1.1.1.No waiting 'till November.
I just wonder what’s going to happen when I go to the for my Sept. 29th follow up.

I am not going to mess with my aids. I have way too much respect for my Audiologist at the . I also have the patience to wait. Also, I am afraid to screw up fantastic settings I already have.

That’s not a problem, 'cause you just save the settings in the instruments, and then create a new client, and play.
You can always go back to the original settings, but I’m not going to try to strong-arm you, my friend.

When I retired I was an IT professional, I promised my dad that I would take his advise and truly retire. I gave away or scraped my Windows systems. I now only have iPhone, iPad, watch, and a Fire Tablet. I didn’t want the temptation of doing beta testing or digging into computers again, I was sick of them and sick of even looking at them. I now do some internet surfing, reading ebooks, listening to audiobooks, and my love of pencil art. And I leave time for riding my bike, you know the type with an engine.

I am sorry I haven’t really been my normal self lately. I had a little procedure that I didn’t take the antithesis well, then the news that my youngest cousin passed from COVID. I have been mad at the whole world for a while. After almost 20 hours of sleep and naps I am hopefully back on track.

No problem, Chuck. Sorry for your latest bumps I’m the road. Those anaesthetics can put you off your strIde for a week or two.

As soon as the Audi connects your to their system, a message will pop up stating that the fitting for the HAs are different than the patient’s prescription and asks which settings to use - the Audi will probably opt to use their (previous) settings which will override your custom settings, UNLESS your HA have a newer version of firmware than the VA is using - then things may get interesting. I keep multiple profiles, one set for the VA settings and a separate profile for my custom settings and I always reload the VA settings to the HA before each visit. Most VA Audis (in Dallas) really get upset with folks that do their own programming, so I just restore the previous VA settings and always let the VA handle the firmware updates.
