If the girl fitting you is not an audiologist, she might still be a Hearing Instrument Specialist () who is licensed and qualified to fit you with hearing aids. This is for the US, not sure where Guelph is anyway. If she said that she’s not an audiologist, she should have told you how she’s qualified to fit you, like maybe she’s an HIS or something.
You don’t post your so without knowing what kind of hearing loss you have, it’s hard to say whether you should be able to see a better performance from the Intent compare to the More 2 or not. Also, you didn’t say what kind of challenges you have with the More 2 that you hope the Intent 1 would help you better with.
So for example, if you only have a mild or moderate hearing loss, or if you don’t really have any challenges in certain environments even with the More 2, then there’s no guarantee that the Intent 1 can sound better for you if the More 2 already meets all your hearing needs for you. So if you just expects a “wow” experience from the Intent 1 without really having any specific issues with the More 2 in the first place, then it’s no surprise if you didn’t get that “wow” moment you were hoping to get.
But if you do have issues with the More 2 and you hope that the Intent 1 can specifically solve those issues for you, then you need to articulate and express this to your fitter and ask them to try to address and solve them in the Intent 1 for you. The Intent 1 wouldn’t necessarily solve all you issues automatically simply by transitioning from the More 2 to it. And you need a qualified fitter, at least an HIS or a licensed audiologist, not just some helper who’s not licensed or qualified.
