Okay then, so just connecting them to SmartFit would of alerted them with a pop up to update firmware, but I think the latest is 2.3 with new NAL 3 formula, actually
I’ve heard of this with Oticon Genie2, if they were programmed with a later version you couldn’t connect to the previous one, so probably not a firmware issue as such.
Have you tried the SmartFit updater?

Resound SmartFit 2.3 has the new NAL-NA3
The new version has the NAL-NA3 for fitting. I didn’t see any significant difference for my fitting. [Screenshot 2026-03-07 184622]

Yes, I did try the Smart Fit Updater. It runs normally, but it says my installation is already up to date. No newer version shows up in the updater at all.

That’s not the latest version - I’m not sure why yours is not updating to 2.3 (which is the one that has NAL-NA3). As @tenkan said , it may be country dependent.

I’ve seen the same behavior with Phonak : once I updated the aids with the Ultra firmware , I was not and to connect to the previous version of Target.

Thanks for the clarification — that helps. The odd part is that my Smart Fit Updater doesn’t show 2.3 at all. It just reports that 2.2.209.5 is fully up to date.

So it really might be region‑dependent, or maybe GN is only pushing 2.3 to certain professional channels. Since my Nexia firmware was updated at the clinic, I’m now stuck with a mismatch where the aids require 2.3, but the updater won’t deliver it.

If anyone here has access to the latest Smart Fit version (2.3 or newer), could you please share it or point me in the right direction? It would really help until GN rolls it out more widely.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the exact error message Smart Fit shows when I try to connect the Nexia, just for reference.

But no this isn’t the issue, because others are not having a problem updating, like even just shutting down your PC (not a reboot but a complete shut down) and then open SmartFit and try again could do it.

I uninstalled Smart Fit, reinstalled using the USA region, and the updater immediately pulled in version 2.3 — so that part worked perfectly.

However, after updating, Smart Fit 2.3 is not detecting my Nexia devices at all.

I tried everything I could think of:

  • turned the hearing aids off and on

  • restarted Smart Fit

  • disabled Bluetooth on my phone

  • restarted the PC

Still no luck — Smart Fit just doesn’t see the devices now.

If you have any ideas on what else I should try, I’d really appreciate it.

Oh your not having a lot of luck with SmartFit today! So I don’t think it’s the , I’d check the Noahlink wireless set up, could need the driver reinstalled, so try that first

I actually use the same Noahlink Wireless for my Phonak Paradise, and it connects to Phonak Target without any issues. Just to be sure, I also tried reinstalling everything:

  • uninstalled the Noahlink Wireless drivers

  • let Windows reinstall them automatically when I re‑connected the device

  • additionally downloaded and installed the official driver package from the official site

So the Noahlink itself seems fine, since it still works perfectly with Target. Smart Fit 2.3 is the only software that isn’t detecting the devices.

For it to connect you do need to confirm in SmartFit the correct programming device, I’ll take your word you know how to connect them in SmartFit because you’ve done this before, so putting together all these little issues your having if you know for sure that you have chosen Noahlink wireless as the default programming device, I’d next try firmware update unless you know it’s running latest version, also I take it your using win11?

Thanks. Yes, I understand Phonak Target using Noahlink Wireless doesn’t necessarily prove anything for Smart Fit, since they use different protocols. I just mentioned it to show that the hardware itself is functioning normally.

Regarding Smart Fit:

  • I did select Noahlink Wireless as the programming device (same way I’ve always done it).

  • I even re‑selected it again just to be sure.

For the drivers:

  • I uninstalled the Noahlink Wireless drivers completely

  • Let Windows reinstall them when I plugged it back in

  • And also manually installed the official driver package

So the driver side should be clean.

As for firmware — Smart Fit 2.3 doesn’t show any firmware update option for the Nexia because it can’t detect them in the first place. Before the clinic visit, Smart Fit 2.2 was detecting them fine, so I’m assuming the clinic updated the firmware to a version that now requires 2.3+.

And yes, I’m on Windows 11.

Yeah so it simply sounds like “no connection detected” Noahlink wireless isn’t making any attempts, can you confirm the green LEDs light up when you click on “connect”

Could i please also request 2.3, or at least 2.2. I only have a 1.18 installer. This no longer works to install and upgrade so now I have nothing :sweat_smile:

Yes, the Noahlink Wireless firmware is up to date — I double‑checked that first.

And yes, the green LEDs do blink when I click “Connect” in Smart Fit, so the Noahlink is definitely waking up and attempting communication. But even with the LEDs blinking, Smart Fit still doesn’t detect the Nexia devices.

Okay this is strange, how about you try making a new client up, don’t use your previous sessions. Also have you got access to another PC, you could try installing SmartFit there and see if you can connect after making a new client.

I seem to be having a similiar issue. I can detect but not connect. Asks to retry and mentions checking battery which is fine. This is with 2.3. Have tried downgrading but no luck.

I did get mine back from repair today so they have been with Resound. I wondered if they had locked them or replaced them with a locked pair.

@vv78 I seem to have resolved my issue but I think I was one step further in that they were detected but wouldn’t connect. Just to be certain make sure to check any other device that might be grabbing the connection from the Noahlink Wireless.

I had nothing else connected but the behaviour was similiar to forgetting to turn off Bluetooth on phone.

Next try turning the hearing aids off, then when it has started searching turn them back on. I did this and they were detected and then I could connect them again for programming.

This is a good way and I believe should do it, yeah ReSound don’t lock their , thankfully!

Yeah I find devices you think have Bluetooth off or device disconnected sometimes get a bit opportunistic

I didn’t think they did either but figured they had the option to. Mine have been back quite a few times now so I thought this was them getting payback.

At least this time I’ve got the casing with changeable mic filters so fingers crossed.

@Mike_A I already tried that earlier, but I went ahead and tried it once again just to be sure — unfortunately still no luck. The issue persists, and Smart Fit 2.3 continues to show no devices detected.
