First time getting a hearing aid

Hi everyone.
I am very new here and never spend a second thinking of hearing loss. But recently I have noticed I need to turn the volume up in the car to hear podcasts, increased volume on the tv but then then music and action sounds are too loud, etc.
Long story short, although I am generally happy with my hearing, besides occasional asking to repeat what was said when it is loud, I went to Specsavers and did a hearing test. Moderate hearing loss on both ears they said and suggested a hearing aid.
I am quite open for new technology and would actually like to see how it is with them, but during day to day life I am not bothered at all about my hearing loss.

Are they having me on for selling a hearing aid, of would I benefit from it?

Your hearing loss drops off at 3000 Hertz.
That would take away some consonants and decrease understanding in noise.

Hearing aids would help you.

First time users sometimes have a difficult time adjusting to new hearing aids. This takes some time to acclimate. Having a long trial or return period would give you time to figure out which aids and audiologist/fitter work best for you. I tend to recommend Costco if you have one within an hour drive for example. They use best practices to fit aids and have a great return program.

I think I will go and test them. Specsavers seem to have a very generous trial period.

Costco has the longest return policy of 180 days. That’s six months to either exchange them for another brand, or a cash refund. The care has been fantastic including a comprehensive hearing test, fitting, and follow up care.

That to me looks a very borderline hearing loss - generally I wouldn’t expect a great deal of improvement with hearing aids given the loss only really starts above 4kHz
