disconnect the streaming connection to my HA
Can you explain that iOS shortcut step? Is it just to select play to the iPad and not the or something else?

I actually see I just set the playback destination. So bluetooth connection stays active, but it stops streaming so the other connected device can stream.
If you have created the shortcut but have it still open select Add to home screen under the share icon. You can find a spotify icon online.
Icloud link to my shortcut1
I also created shortcuts with icons on my home screen for setting playback destination to ipad or to my HA.

It sounded like you were able to have the iPad take priority from your phone. This directs the iPad as to whether to play on the speakers or the hearing aids which can be useful.

Phonak could easily add a ‘Bluetooth Connection Manager’ to the myPhonak app.
Phonak always maintain a Bluetooth LE connection to the myPhonak app. This connection exists even when the HAs stream audio from another device, and it could be used to tell the HAs which Bluetooth audio stream to connect to.
Phonak’s claim that they support up to 8 connections (2 simultaneously) feels disingenuous because it’s very cumbersome to handle multiple connections in reality.
, on the other hand, has a ‘connection manager’ baked into the standard. It’s very easy to switch between multiple streams on ReSound/Jabra HAs (probably Oticon as well now…)
Phonak has promised Auracast for the Infinio line (relased Aug. 2024), but they haven’t delivered yet.

Sorry, I was not trying to imply that I could overrule another device. This is just how I make sure the iPad does not block the connection so I can stream from my iPhone or MacBook.
On my MacBook I have the Bleubed app running which disconnects my when the MacBook sleeps. That works most of the time.
You will have to solve this from the device that is currently streaming and blocking your HAs.
A bluetooth connection manager does sound like a cool idea.

When you’re finished using the iPad to stream you return playback to the iPad so it does not continue streaming to the aids. That manual release process makes sense as it is done using the active connection.
This type of shortcut works with Phonak and classic Bluetooth too, not only mFi. Even though Phonak can connect to two devices it might be a good practice to stop streaming to them before switching devices.
