Thinking about the faulty blue device, specifically the sound outlet (speaker, filter, dome) being clean, I also thought about the inlet (microphone). After checking it under a magnifying glass, it turned out to be smudged with fingerprints. After cleaning microphone with a brush, everything returned to normal.
