Homespot BA210 V2 and Apple TV 4K settings?

I’ve got the BA210 connected to my TV via the Toslink cable and it works just fine after tweaking the volume with the QK Castool. Phone is a Pixel 8 Pro and ’s are Jabra Enhance Pro 30.

When I tried to watch a show through the Apple TV using the same setup, there was no sound. That is using the Apple TV for input rather than my cable box.

When I changed the cables from the TV to the BA210 from the Toslink to the RCA & 3.5 mm the sound came back. This leads me to think that there is something in the digital output from the Apple TV that is affecting the sound.

Does anybody have an idea of what settings I should be trying to tweak on the Apple TV to get the sound to work with the Toslink cable? I’d rather not have to swap cables all the time.

Note that this is a GUESS. I would try setting the Audio Format to Stereo only for your Apple TV. That would possibly work while other more complicated formats might not be correctly supported by the Homespot (or maybe the TV). If Stereo only works, you might try other formats.

As an example, my Oticon TV adapter 3 supports stereo (PCM) and a simple version of Dolby Digital (not ATMOS or 5.1) as audio formats via TOSLINK.

Does the manual for the BA2010 specify which audio formats it will accept on the TOSLINK input? If not, maybe they have a tech support link on a website that might get you an answer.

The Stereo and PCM were starting to make sense between the various instruction manuals. I tried a number of settings on both the 1st generation Sony Bravia (2010) and the Apple TV 4K while using the Toslink cable.

The best I could do was to get the BA210 to give me a periodic flash of the Blue (broadcast) and Green (audio input) LEDs. But no sound would stream.

Some of the settings would give me a solid blue and solid red indicating there was an audio input error.

The RCA to 3.5 mm cable works. I watched an entire movie this afternoon without a problem with the sound streaming via . Although it would be nice to have everything work all together and just use the various remotes for controls, I can live with leaving both the Toslink and RCA cables connected to the TV and just switch them on the Homespot BA210 when needed.

At least I can get the hardware from multiple manufacturers spanning a couple of decades all working together with newer technologies.

A short look into GPT sais “the HomeSpot BA210 only accepts PCM over TOSLINK (S/PDIF) — no compressed surround formats.“ … so the good old problem of transmitters not understanding the audio format over optical.

You seem to be forced to find that setting and to change it, else no sound .
