How do I choose between clinic-fitted vs. online-purchased hearing aids?

I agree with your value proposition but your hearing aid brands are off. They do not carry anything related to Starkey, and their Rextons are much more similar to Signia hearing aids than Widex. The Sennheiser is not equivalent to a current Phonak aid and Phillips is closer to Sonic or Bernafon than Oticon. The Jabra is similar to the Resound Vivia 9 as you mentioned.

I don’t see where Pro 10s or Omnias are relevant. The current jabraenhance website says the 500 is their current top-of-line, and there was a thread here that said the 500 was the equivalent of the Nexia 5, but they upgrade, so it might be the equivalent of the Vivia 5. Or 7. But not the 9. The website, like all marketing, is opaque, as we all know.

Also, the 500 is the ‘Enhance Select’ not ‘Enhanced Pro’.

So are you talking about the model, true it’s hard to say what exactly that is, could be based on older Omnias, One tech.

Wasn’t the Vivia, then. I only remembered that there was a post here quoting ReSound or Jabra support.

@RSW shared that Jabra support told him the 500 was a Nexia 5 - I found a thread by searching her on: jabra 500 nexia. They might have been blowing smoke, but the quote is eminently believable.

Well J, you don’t have an with your avatar here, but I’d say right off the bat if your audiogram is like my audiogram, you’d ONLY get the kind of hearing help needed with a very patient, qualified audiologist.

I’m so deaf I can’t even wear earbuds or any kind of in-ear headphone - I simply won’t hear a thing! Luckily, with my Phonak Lumity Life aids, I can stream music and phone calls to my aids BEAUTIFULLY - full, rich sound. So there is that to also consider: the quality of bluetooth streaming.

I agree with everyone saying that wanting to get it right and avoid frustration is probably clinic, not online. Optimized is also clinic.

But Costco or audiologist it will depend more on the person than on the tech. Your best bet is word of mouth. If people in your area are happy with their Costco devices and wear them consistently, then your Costco clinician is probably decent.
