I Tested EssilorLuxottica’s Visionary Nuance Hearing Aid Glasses. Do They Work?

we are moving away as an industry with the pure beamforming , now Phonak has speech in 360, Oticon Opn sound, etc. What could be interesting is because it has more size, they could potentially have more space to place components batteries have more juice to run more things.

Seeking clarity on the mechanics of these glasses: how effective are they in converting sound if the cilia are damaged?
Any ideas on improvement in the db levels of hearing with these? Specifically, high frequency loss improvement? I know someone who suffers from a loss of music enjoyment as they went from 12kz to 8k. How effective, if at all, would the frames be in this scenario?
How often would the frames have to replaced or how often would check ups be needed to make sure the frames are still working correctly?

Dr. Cliff JUST mentioned this as a positive possibility in one of his latest (Spring 2025) reviews, and when I get mine, this will probably be one of the ways I’ll use them.

Here is my question and my thinking. I also have vision issues and have to change glasses a number of times a day. I don’t go outside without sunglasses and with my vision which changes sometimes multiple times a day. I also have a severe hearing loss and wear custom ear molds, even then my wife can hear my aids across the room. As for as hearing directionally what about hearing all around me. My Oticon INTENT1 aids give me directional hearing of conversations but i can hear all around me too. This is important when I am out hiking in the forest.
Sorry i don’t see the hearing glasses as practical for me or anyone with severe to profound hearing loss. And definitely not practical when I have to change glasses as often ad I do.

These glasses are hearing devices and are NOT designed for anyone with severe to profound hearing loss - they explicitly say so.
They are designed for perceived mild to moderate loss only.

Correct, and having tested them in the lab, they are definitely not appropriate for worse than mild to mod.

They are possibly not even good for all mild to moderate losses given that they have four predefined fits that will not fit everyone. Some must be more flexible given that Airpod Pro 2 is.
It’s a start and gen 2 might be better.

Im all the years I have been in the industry, it is not the first time I have seen Hearing aid and glasses combined. I remember there was an Italian company which had those with open fittings.
I heard a lot of people saying “the AirPods will be game changers”, always maintain it will never go anywhere. This is the same thing. Do you remember the whisper ? they said they its model -lease will be the way to the future. Where are they now?

My guess is they are going for the perceived 60% of unfixed losses and trying to pull in the Optics shops who aren’t really going full crossover to full suppliers.
The logical next step is that if clients find these aren’t powerful enough, they become a potential full blown HA prospect to either sell on or fit with their in house HA supplier.

Can anyone share their experiences with these glasses after months of use?
I’ve heard a lot about these glasses, but I don’t know anyone who uses them. I’m tempted to visit LensCrafters and try them out.
I’m mostly interested in
(1) How do they perform in real-life noisy environments, such as restaurants?
(2) Feedback issues
(3) Do people have to crank up the volume in noisy places?
(4) (4) How does their performance when high-frequency gains are required (for individuals with high-frequency loss)?

Do the speakers spill over to anyone close by as when seated in a concert for example.?

Really, what big innovations have we seen since the RIC was invented?
EDIT: Why does my "Quote" action puts Wooluf there? the quote came from @AbramBaileyAuD
uhhmmm.... Rechargeable? denoising? "hearing loss compensation as software feature to download"? just to mention the few obvous ones :-)

First off, here’s a company large enough and serious enough to fly a bunch of influencers to Milan a year ahead of a possible launch. It seems to have worked.
Not the signal I would take as "proof" that something will work. Think of SecondLife where companies invested billions, think of "smart glasses" which at least up to now did cost of billions with many many failed business models, still not flying....
