The following suggestions have sometimes helped me when an aid wouldn’t charge. I realize you may already have tried these things, but you didn’t say you did.
Does the aid that won’t charge do any better if you move it to the other side of the charger, backwards? Or is that not possible in your charger, or does it still not charge?
Have you tried taking a damp cloth and wiping the body of the aid that will not charge?
Have you tried taking a Q-tip, dampening it with isopropyl alcohol and squeezing out the excess, and wiping out the port of the charger? If the Q-tip comes away visibly dirty, keep doing that until it comes out clean. Wait briefly until the port is dry, and try charging again. Any improvement?
Beyond that, I have no other ideas. It is possible this 5-year old aid is at end of life. Especially if the rechargeable battery is the original 5-year old battery. At some point, commonly between four and seven years of age, lithium ion batteries will not take a charge and need to be replaced. But Jabra may no longer have the parts to enable them to change that for you now. In many models rechargeable “batteries” in hearing aids are not discrete batteries that can be swapped out; they’re built into integrated circuitry, and the fix is to replace the entire guts of the aid inside the case. But if Jabra has distributed all the spares they had, there are no more. They’re not going to make replacements now. If this is what’s going on, the left aid will stop taking a charge at some point too.
