I had my left ear checked and was told there is no infection, but I feel fluttering and pain and fullness . It comes and goes . Been like this for a couple of weeks. They gave me Ciprofloxacin/Dexamethasone drops. I am to see and ent if it doesn’t resolve . what could be going on behind my ear drum? I’m so confused ?
Your doctor believes it’s an infection because he prescribed you an antibiotic with an anti-inflammatory. Hopefully, it will resolve with that treatment.
FYI: this is a hearing aid forum, not a medical one.
You middle ear muscles are spasming. Have you ever experienced your eyelid twitching maybe when you are tired? It’s a bit like that. The irony of the middle ear muscle spasms is, once something sets them off, if you focus on it and stress about the your brain will be like “Oh, is this important? I’ll do it some more!” so you need to try to be a bit zen about it. Be friendly towards them.
I’ve read that sometimes stretching your mouth and tongue can help to calm it down. You may also want to investigate things that can cause inflamation in the area and make sure you’re taking care of them–teeth grinding/clenching, poor posture.
Worse case scenario an can go in and cut those muscles. But that’s an invasive intervention for benign symptoms.
