New User Goes To Costco

Exactly!!! sounds were so harsh before. It was not a pleasure to listen to music or TV. As wonderful as Costco is, we have to remember that the fitters are at best technicians.

Just a general comment. It’s much easier to adjust hearing aids to “sound good” than it is to make sounds audible.

This is comment is incorrect. Many Costco’s have real deal audiologist on staff and the techs they have are usually experienced and come from places that push sales rather than improved hearing. My experience with Costco’s hearing department has been excellent, much better than the brick and mortar hearing aid places. This is my limited experience but it is what I have seen.

Actually, YOUR response is less correct unless you have been unfortunate enough to use many Costco Hearing eight centers you cannot speak to what many have only to what the ones you use have. I am speaking from my own experience, which is correct. We have five technicians none of them claim to be audiologist watch your language. You are correct and stating that many of them are very experienced. My Costco fitter has 20 years of experience and is very good. Experience does not grant you a degree..

This seems over the line to me. They have real deal AuDs in places. And the HISs are quite often wonderful. “At best.” Nope.

What does ‘at best technicians’ mean?

I think you underestimate the skills - technical and communication - required to be good at making HAs work for people.
