As for a “HearLink 9050”, can you provide a link to an announcement of a hearing aid announced with this name?

Not a product announcement but

“Sound Guide: In the fitting software, it is possible to turn on and off the Sound Guide. Sound Guide will be on as default and available for Philips Hearlink 9050 and Philips Hearlink 7050”

from HearSuite132 (link posted earlier by @rsw).

I’ve had a 9040 for a month now. I wonder if the 9050 becomes available in Costco at some point within the next 5 months whether they’d let me swap it over (i.e. are you able to do that with a newer model of the same brand)?

Edited

I’ve asked my local Costco about returning a trial hearing aid if the company comes out with an updated model within the trial period, and I’ve been told that yes, you could “swap” the older version within the trial period. But it’s not quite a “swap”; you’d return your current hearing aids, get your refund, and then purchase the new 9050 hearing aids. The process would be no different than if within the 6 month trial period you decided you didn’t like your current Philips 9040 , and decided you wanted to return them and get, say, the Rextons instead.

One thing to be aware of is that at least some Costco stores may have a (unwritten?) policy of only allow three returns of trialed hearing aids before cutting the customer off and refusing to sell them new hearing aids. This is just something that I’ve picked up reading this forum. I can’t speak to this from personal experience, and I’ll leave it to others who have more knowledge to confirm whether or not this might be a concern.

Both the 9030a and 9040s had been announced around Valentines day in 2022 and 2023 and released shortly afterwards. I do not expect the 9050 to be any different. The whitepaper and website for the 50 series mrie aids is up. It’s official

Thanks but I’m looking for the link that specifically shows the 3 Costco he says we’re listed to buy them.

If 3 stores have them then it’s only a matter of time before the rest of them will be offering them also.

Not good with links. Get the Philips 50 brochure…it will tell you where you can buy…I entered zip 33908 and all my Costcos appeared.

Yes, but it wasn’t announced by Oticon and it’s not “Costco branded”.

I used the wrong terminology. I didn’t mean “branded” like sold under the Kirkland Signature name; I meant it like “made by Demant exclusively for Costco” (in North America).

I think @dennis_I may have misinterpreted the info on the Philip 9050 link that shows provider locations. I believe the 9050 page on the Philips website that we are all referring to is this:
https://www.hearingsolutions.philips.com/hearing-aids/hearing-aids/minirite-50306

At the bottom, this page includes a link to provider locations, but this link is labeled:
“We can help you find your closest hearing care specialist who can provide you with Philips HearLink hearing aids and help support you after ownership.” This isn’t specific to the availability of the 9050, it just links to a location finder for all providers of Philips hearing aids, ie all the Costcos with hearing aid departments in the USA. It doesn’t mean that the listed locations are suddenly carrying the new 9050s. In fact, my Costco is of course listed, and as mentioned above I had an apppointment yesterday and the HAS had never heard of the 9050 and had no idea when it might become available.

If I’m missing something or referencing the wrong link, please let me know!

Good correction. I can see how my Costco mention made one think that they already had the 9050s. My true interpretation was the 9050s will be available at Costco…when, not sure! So thanks! Clarity is good.

This link is to a Philips global brochure. If you scroll down to the bottom, it lists Global (English) under Location/Laguage. If you click on Global (English), it will bring up all of the countries in the world where Philips is sold. Clicking on United States English brings up a brochure which has no mention of the “50 miniRite”. I don’t know what this means, but it doesn’t give me the impression of an imminent release of a new product of the US - although something is clearly coming at some point this year.

Seeing as how Philips announced the 30s and 40s in consecutive Februaries with Costco getting them shortly after. Now the 50s got announced (in February). I’m willing to assume it will continue the pattern of coming out q1 or q2 latest this year

I get the dreaded “mic” noise-floor type (constant) hiss from mine, checked via the “cup test”:

Oticon More 1 Low Hiss in Quiet
I too would like to know if you have resolved your hiss issue. I use the large no vent minifit grip tips with the More1 aids and the hiss is still driving me nuts. I don’t do my own programming so need to have a good solution that I can relate to my audi before I make the trip to see her. I have noticed that the hiss stops if I cup my hand behind my ear (an old trick to amplify sound before HAs) which leads me to believe it’s tied to the feedback programming. The hand cupped behind the ear doe…

And so actually I probably will tell them the reason is that I can’t stand it and am hoping that problem is fixed in the updated 9050 model.

One of the advertised features of the new Philips 9050 Hearing Aids is that they include Bluetooth and will work with when that technology becomes more widespread. I’m assuming that - since Auracast is not currently available most places - these also include . However I don’t see that specified anywhere. Does this seem like a reasonable assumption?

No need to be anything but honest. All you have to say is, ‘I’d like to try out the 9050s.’ You’ve got 2 ways to do that, maybe more. You can return your Jabra 20s for a refind and buy the 9050s, or you can keep the 20s for a while, purchase the 9050s, and return the pair you don’t want.

The 180 day return period allows returns for any reason; no need to create a false picture. I initially bought rechargeable Pro 10s. Then I misplaced my charger and decided I wanted the disposable battery version. The return of the 1st pair was totally hassle-free.

The 9050 has 2 key new features: the improved Noise Reduction module and the use of accelerometers to track head movements to translate to when to apply the appropriate signal to noise ratio to improve speech or when not to.
