Phonak app adjustments question

Hi all

I have been using sphere i90s for a few weeks and they have been pretty great.

My question is in regards to the Phonak app. I am able to adjust all the profiles except “Bluetooth + mic”. This profile only shows up when I’m streaming and I can’t make any adjustments. Is this something the audiologist can enable or not something that can adjusted?

Also, my default profile is “automatic”. Is the spherical mode limited to the default profile ? Thank you.

The only thing I can adjust on Bluetooth+Mic is the Ambience slider (the mix between the stream and mic input) - very effective to improve audio fidelity with more open fittings. Your audiologist can adjust the e.q. of streamed content for you - but don’t forget you can often improve your perceived audio e.q. via the settings of your streaming app.

Your audiologist can also create a manual Spheric setting for you. Alternately, if you’re able to force your HAs into spheric mode via the environment you’re in, you can then Adjust that and save it as one of your own presets.

Thanks. You are right about the ambience slider. I am curious if I should leave it alone or turn it down a setting or two. Am I supposed to let my brain adjust to the ambient noise? I guess a question I’ll ask my audi next meeting.

I’m actually not sure if spheric kicks in not. I have a manually created restaurant setting that had worked well for me.

We don’t know what your looks like, how “open” your fitting is, or really even what the problem you’re trying to solve is… so it would be hard to make a recommendation.

That said, if these are your first aids it can take a few weeks or months for your brain to fully adapt to its new inputs. At least in my case, some of the presets I created in the early days were less helpful after that adaptation had taken place and “automatic” became sufficient in most situations.

Streaming music was definitely an early challenge until I went to a more closed PowerDome fitting. I wasn’t getting as much benefit from Spheric Speech in Noise either, but with the dome change, brain adaptation and adjustments by my audiologist I’m now taking more advantage of the technology. Take notes, list your frustrations, and bring them to your audiologist.

Spherical is its own program. It is one of the programs which can be selected automatically depending on conditions by autosense. When in automatic and it had put your aids in the spherical program, you can save this as a program which you can manually select and customize how you’d like. But spherical won’t run at the same time as calm or streams, for examples.

The way I use this setting is very situational. If i’m in a quiet area, then I can have ambience turned up. however if you’re in a noisy place, you should probably turn it down. It really depends. this is one of those programs which is very dependant on how you use it. There is probably a balance which you can find over time, but best to experiment.

To clarify my original question: with the “Bluetooth + Mic” and “TV Connector” programs, I’m unable to save the settings or save them as a new profile. I’d like to avoid having to change the settings every time, since the app can take 30+ seconds to sync with my hearing aids.

Is there any way to make these adjustments permanent?

Take a screen shot of your adjustments and show your provider.

If you ask them to activate the mute button on your hearing aids you can use that to mute the ambient mics when you’re streaming.
