Yes, other programs can be added by your audi. Restaurant is Program 2 by default; not sure why your audi removed it. If you’re using LiNX 9, your current Program 1 isn’t the best choice. It should show “All Around” instead of Softswitch. You’ll get better performance if you have your audi select Directionality for that program instead of Basic + SoftSwitching.

I’ve had my Linx aids for a week now and for the most part really like them. But I’m having trouble understanding the protocol for bluetooth connection to the iPhone app. Specifically, when the iPhone is separated by any distance from the aids, the connection is lost and doesn’t seem to want to re-establish the connection when proximity is restored. All I can figure is to disconnect the aids from the app, then opening/closing the aid battery doors to cause them to reboot, then allowing them to reconnect. A bit of a drill and a pain. Am I missing something?

If you wait 5 or 6 minutes after coming back into range, the connection should re-establish itself. If not, turn Bluetooth off on the iPhone and then back on. Power cycling the hearing aids should be a last resort.

How different are the Linx from the Versa, other than the iPhone communication, is there much difference? I was quoted a price for the Linx of $6400 for the pair, which seems a bit steep to me.

The LiNX contains ReSound’s latest processing chip, called SmartRange. They claim it’s twice as fast and offers twice the performance of Range II, the chip which is used in the Verso line. There’s also a new antenna system that’s been improved over Verso, and some new features like Sound Shaper, ReSound’s implementation of non-linear frequency compression.

You would need a Bluetooth audio adapter on your PC for that to have a chance of working.

What I do is to feed the audio from my PC to the ReSound Mini-Mic using a 3.5mm audio cable, and from there to the LiNX 9. Works great – except really only at the frequencies for voice. For anything with much spectral depth (movies, TV, music), the audio quality sounds poor to me compared to using headphones.

IMHO, something is wrong here. In my experience, streaming is reliably restored instantly after returning into range. This has happened hundreds of times. Now, I am streaming with the Unite Mini Mic to KS5s using a slightly different transmission protocol but I doubt that Resound would knowingly introduce a more efficient protocol that needs as much as 5 minutes to reconnect. I would consider this to be completely unacceptable!

I think there is a bug somewhere in your streaming system.

I just got my LiNX 961aids and these are my initial impressions: (I am a first time hearing aid user.)

  1. If the ReSound engineers are looking for ways to make them small please STOP! They are almost too small for a 74 year old and out of shape man to work with as they are. I said almost. After a day and a half of use I am not aware of them on my ears. Two days ago I would have called you a liar if you had told me that would be my experience.

  2. To users if you do not have a useable fingernail forget about these aids because you will never get the battery drawer open.

  3. I am not sure what I was expecting before I got by way of an adjustment period but again after a day and a haft it appears to be 0 (zero). No doubt working with my audiologist there will be some fine tuning but out of the gate I am a happy camper.

  4. I would like to thank all of you on this blog for sharing your concerns, solutions and wisdom it was and is very much appreciated. A special thanks to the moderator(s) who make the whole thing work.

My sole regret is that I did not get hearing aids sooner! I will post future impressions as appropriate.

Is anyone noticing any time delay between video movement and audio when streaming using Bluetooth™ LE?

Is anyone noticing any time delay between video movement and audio when streaming using Bluetooth™ LE?

What came up in this thread several times is the fact that while making a calls you still have to use the mic in the iPhone, which doesn’t make calling handsfree.

So i’m wondering if somebody here happens to know whether one of those external wired clip-on microphones can be used. For example the Rode smartLav.
Wherever i look they are used to record interviews and so on, but nothing on making phone calls. Anybody tried this already?

I’m new to the forum and . I am strongly considering the LiNX for my first HA. I had a couple of questions that I thought maybe the more experienced could answer.

  1. Is the LiNX firmware upgradeable?
  2. Is there hacked software that a user can use to program their own HAs?

I’m an engineer and was pre-med in school. I feel, maybe wrongly so, that I can do as good a job as any Audi tweaking my HAs.

I am noticing that when I stream from my iPad, that one hearing aid starts working before the other. When they are both working at the same time, they’re great.

The delay is usually only a couple of seconds, but it is there and I’m hoping that Apple or Resound has a fix at some point, however…

This is still the best hearing aid I’ve ever used.

I was at the audiologist’s office and we had to get an answer to that question, so we called her contact at Resound and were told that a firmware upgrade would be coming out.

I don’t know about the hacking question.

I have been using Linx for a few weeks now. I’m having trouble with “my places.” First, if my phone isn’t on, the message to go to the place gets lost when I swipe the phone. If I don’t get to tap yes on the message, is there any other way to access the place. The map shows the place but doesn’t allow you to tap it so it can load. I hope this is clear.

You have a couple of options on your iPhone screen just swipe down which will bring up your notifications then just swipe the notification for my places or you can open the smart app and on the volume page touch the red button with 3 lines on which will open up your menu screen and choose my places and the select which place you want. Hope this helps

I read in a previous post that a firm upgrade might be in the future. To answer your second question, the programming software for the Linx Aventa 3.6 is a free download from the Resound website. Explore types of hearing aids and learn how they work1 You will also need the Resound AirLink (dongle) to set up the wireless connection between your hearing aids and the software. My audiologist gave me one of her spares to use and I have made some adjustments. I do not know a commercial source where you could find one but I would imagine you could find it somewhere.

I have had by LiNX 9s for three weeks (my first ) and have had one adjustment nothing major. My audiologist is new to the product and has suggested we learn as we go and in small steps. It makes sense to me and that is what we are doing. I have noticed in the the references to the various programs but I have not found any descriptions as to what to expect with each of them. I had expected the “restaurant” program to reduce back ground sounds but was told that what it did was to narrow the focus of the mic to better capture the speaker I wanted to hear. Knowing what to look for I found that was the case. I asked the audiologist what the “Traffic” and “Outdoor” programs what do and she was not sure. Can anyone describe what I would experience with the various programs tag are available or direct me to a web site that would provide some insights.
