Sonite Rise

I didn’t know that they sold both. However, the price listed on their website is $1,599.99 for the Rise

I doubt they are selling both. The Rise is the latest model, similar to Phonak Infinio Ultra (not Sphere) R is similar to Lumity. If some places are still selling R it won’t be for long.

That would be cruel if they are selling the R to unsuspecting customers, unless they are giving a discount.
Imagine there is some excess inventory of the R in the Costco network or does their supply chain minimize inventory (?)

I wouldn’t think the Costco has any inventory. I always thought they got them directly from the manufacture’s warehouse.
However, it’s possible that one’s local Costco can still order the R if they want it over the Rise.

I thought Sonite Rise is replacing Sonite R. I got the Rise not too long ago, but so far it’s ok, but I may need more time with them. From what I recall, the Sonite R is closer to the Lumity, and the Sonite Rise is closer to the Phonak Audeo Infinio (Non-Sphere).

I just got my Sonite Rise at Costco in North Riverside, IL. They are the only ones they are selling as of two weeks ago. I went for a hearing test, and six days later got my aids and fitting. It was past time for my hearing test and my changed just enough to really make a difference in my aids. But once wearing them, noticed other improvements - wind noise is now virtually non-existent, response to and recovery from time caused by loud impulses is more natural. I am a DIYer, and they work perfectly with my NoahLink Wireless interface and Phonak Target 11.1 software.
The Bluetooth streaming works better than ever, but since I don’t like always having the notification sounds from my iPhone direct into my aids, I’ve disabled that. And I tweaked a music setting with no feedback rejection and omni mic for when I play guitar, as the feedback rejection scheme thinks the purer tones of individual guitar notes are feedback and trills them. Shutting it off solves that problem. There are also many more parameters in the PROGRAM OPTIONS for controlling soft noise rejection and loud noise suppression, as well as speech focus, etc that really let you get what you are looking for as a DIYer (if you are one), though I’d say if I just had to go with what the Costco tech did when fitting, I’d be happy (except I’d probably have to have gone back with a guitar in hand to tweak that special music setting).
I retired a set of KS9s to be “spares”, but before I did, plugged new Audiogram into them and tweaked them in Target so they sound pretty much exactly like my new Sonite Rise aids but without the performance enhancements I’ve noted. The Sonite Rise were $1599 and I think it was money very well spent.
Bottom line - two thumbs way up for the Sonite Rise aids AND my Costco tech.

I’m curious, since you are obviously into music, do you stream music through your ’s using Apple Music or other streaming service? If so, how is the SQ? Thanks.

I don’t stream music through my aids because I don’t really have loss in the low end and use open domes. So, streaming music through them doesn’t really sound very good without the bass. For listening, I stream to my Apple AirPods Max, via Apple Music or just files I create from recording my own music.
As far as headphones, I am in the Apple world using their circumaural AirPods Max, so I can plug my into its HEALTH app and it applies it system wide on my iPhone or iPad. For recording with my Mac computer, I program an EQ curve into the recording software (Logic) and leave that on so I can track/mix with my headphones. Or, for listening to Apple Music from my Mac, I use a EQ curve there (as the Mac doesn’t support the HEALTH app). For any other headphones, I use the EQ curve technique so I can remove my aids while listening to music.
If I wore or had custom earmolds, I’d probably play with streaming to my aids a bit more. But as it is, they’re really only OK for spoken word material, like an audiobook, etc.
But I have to ask what “SQ” is? Or was that a typo for “EQ”?

Thanks. SQ = sound quality. I have SoundGear Amps and did not buy them for streaming but it would be nice to not have to remove them and put in AirPods or other IEM’s for music. Not a big deal, to be honest.

Plan to exchange my Sonite R for Rise next week at Costco! Your review really helpful! Ive had the R’s for about 2 months. Only auto feature I’ve noticed is walking on a windy day, wind noise is reduced. Costco person relies too much on calling Sennheiser when I requested changes. Seems like the suboptions from Auto Premium setting are all defaulted, and really need some adjusting. will give Costco 1 more chance to make things right with the Sonite Rise, or . You are fortuneate to have a good tech to work with!

Help me to get up to speed…what do the Rise aids give you that the R aids don’t?
I’ve read a bunch about the Sphere thing, but other than that, I don’t know about the Infineo line.
I’m just trying to figure out if now’s teh time to upgrade from my Marvel M-90’s

Phonak Marvel / KS9 → AutoSense OS 3 ( SWORD chip platform)
Phonak Paradise / KS10 → AutoSense OS 4 ( PRISM chip platform ) new “Dynamic Noise Cancellation”
Phonak Lumity1 / Sonite R → AutoSense OS 5 ( PRISM chip platform ) new StereoZoom 2.01 avail. for L90 and L70 tiers, SpeechSensor1 avail. only for L90 tier
Phonak Infinio R9 / Sonite Rise → AutoSense OS 6 → with “Ultra Update”: AutoSense OS 7 ( new ERA chip platform), better Bluetooth (saves energy) thus longer batter runtime as Marvel / Paradise / Lumity.
Marvel (KS9) can be paired only to two bluetooth devices and connect to one device actively.
Paradise (KS10) , Lumity (Sonite R) , Infinio (Sonite Rise) can be paired up to 8 bluetooth devices and connect 2 actively (e.g., a cell phone and a laptop at the same time), while Marvel allows only 1 active connection.
Marvel does not support Phonak SmartSpeech technologie
only Paradise (KS10) , Lumity (Sonite R) , Infinio (Sonite Rise) supporting new Phonak SmartSpeech technologie.

The main difference between the Phonak Marvel (introduced around 2018) and the Phonak Infinio (introduced in 2024/2025) lies in the generation of the processor platform, which results in significant improvements in sound processing, connectivity, and -powered speech intelligibility. While the Marvel pioneered direct Bluetooth streaming (on older Bluetooth version 4.6), the Infinio/Sonite Rise is a modern platform that relies on newer Bluetooth version 5.3 and higher computing power.
key differences:
-
Technology platform & chip (computing power)
Phonak Infinio/Sonite RISE (ERA platform): Offers a completely new chip with significantly more RAM and computing power, enabling faster sound processing and finer real-time adjustments.Phonak Marvel: Based on an older platform that was revolutionary for its time (direct streaming) but offers significantly less processing power and memory capacity compared to the Infinio series.
-
Speech Understanding and Noise Cancellation
Infinio/Sonite Rise: new AutoSense OS 7 , Phonak SmartSpeech on faster ERA Chip, supports new Phonak ADP 3.09
Marvel: older AutoSense OS 3 on older chip plattform, does not match the precision of the new deep learning approach in complex noisy environments. -
Connectivity and Bluetooth
Infinio/Sonite Rise: Offers six times the transmission power, ensuring a more stable connection to the smartphone, even over longer distances. It is -ready.
Marvel, Paradise, Lumity: Offers direct Bluetooth streaming, but has a shorter range and is less stable compared to the new technology. No Auracast support.

Thank you for this excellent comparison of Phonak changes from Marvel to Infinio.
It’s also helpful information concerning that is still using the Marvel platform.

Per Sennheiser tech support when I call them. You’ll be lucky to get 16-18 hrs.
Sennheiser Sonite Rise rechargeable hearing aid, without any active connection to Bluetooth, and plainly used as a normal hearing aid should last up to 31 hours approximately, battery should last 16 hours approximately when connected to Bluetooth streaming for at least 8hrs. This of course depends on certain factors. Hearing aid would consume more battery in loud environments. Battery life would be consumed more depending on the severity of the patient’s hearing loss, it really depends on how the hearing aid is being used on a daily basis.

Costco does not sell lower tech aids, only the highest tech premium ones.
Sennheiser Rise = I90 non-Sphere
