In December, it was finally time to replace my hearing aids, and I really did my homework this time and also decided to step away from HEAR USA. I am in San Diego, and LaMesa Hearing Aids did a wonderful job of fitting me with Starkey’s New version of the Omega AI 16 series of hearing aids. I have Moderate to Severe hearing loss. Previously I had Signia Charge & Go, and I did like them, however they would not connect to my phone directly for phone calls. And thats something that irritated me somewhat. Its nice now to be able to hold a conversation on the phone in which answers automatically as well as gives me a notification fext messages to keep in touch with my husband, as we both have life threatning ilnesses. When you purchase this model, it comes with your choice of two accesorries, I chose the TV Stream Box (Disable Auto Connect) and the Chargeable carrying case, as we travel frequently, and its great to keep in a backpack if you go on a long daily excursion, it stays chgarged easily for 3 days, and you’ll have great piece of mind to keep your aids charged every day, and that being said I have found that these Omega AI 16’s stay charged for a good solid 6:30AM-10:30PM, and still were at 75%, but best quality within 15 hour range. The Phone APP that is downloadable from the play store on Android phones works very well, and is very intuitive to your needs and tone adjustments, as well as setting up preset conditions for different types of environments, in which you can change with your right hand by just toggling through on the top of the hearing aid on your right ear, and on your left ear adjusts the volume to your liking if you get in a area where you need a bit of a boost. For me; I have found the preset PERSONAL setting works just fine about 90% of the time, and I hardly use the stream box at all unless a hard to hear broadcast on the TV is a bit to low, I will use it then, again within the APP on your phone there is a big button at the bottom that is labeled STREAM, and it gives you plenty of volume from your TV Direct, and your still able to hear people taking as well and you can adjust that as well.
The one thing I have found, is once you pause a TV Program, it will stop streaming, and you have to hit the stream button again, I hope the developer from the APP will come up with a solution to this issue.
Also, the bluetooth connection when your walking and streaming a program on your phone (IF IN YOUR POCKET) tends to drop a bit, so, I just carry my phone when I walk, or if you have a shirt pocket I recommend putting it there.
All what I have just mentioned , after having them almost a month and a half, they are the best option as far as connectivity with your phone and an app to adjust to your hearing needs, your hearing WILL ADJUST to the new sound, it was a bit tinny I thought at first, but there is an adjustment on the app for bass and trouble, as well as a BASS BOOST function, and I run this by default all the time, and they sound great!! Compaing them to Signia, I recieved the TV Streamer, and the chargeable dock case included in the price, and that right there saved me about 600.00.
I highly recommend Starkey Omega AI 16’s ( I prefer these, as the ones you put in your ear without a wire that just fit inside your ear, I am afraid of loosing those, I prefer the ones that go over your ear, and the wire is connected to the OPEN EAR BUD, I dont recomend a closed ear bud, it makes your ear feel plugged up, I started with those and i went back to the open ear dome, so it felt more natural and I could hear people around me better.
For the price, and functionality and great customer support as well as easily cleaning, and being able to talk on the phone with ease, GO STARKEY Omega AI.
