Starkey Pro-Fit (profit) first time setup

As an engineer, I am looking into learning how to tweak my own setup. I’m reading the Pro-Fit manual and one basic point is not clear.

The first time I start out, does it read the current settings off of the hearing aids? And I can save a baseline profile (unchanged) and then copy and experiment from there?

Or do I need to get the initial settings form an existing database that my audiologist office uses? What’s the starting point? Am I correct to assume it is read from the hearing aids?

You read the manual and it’s not clear, well that’s enough to worry me, I’ve never read starkeys user guide? but all you need to do is make up two clients, one to save your original audiology settings and one for your projects, easy as, and yes the store all your settings for this, just connect HAs to profit through the client you’ve made up and then save the settings to database, then connect to your other client and start your project, you can use the demo(simulation mode) feature in ProFit to help you along.

Yup. The manual talks about load a saved session and applying it to program the device and other options form the file menu. Only in a note is one mention of “reading” the device … when it says you need a Noahlink Wireless programmer to “read and program the aids”. So, I guess it implies that setting are read. If you spot the correct section in the online manual that provides more information that woudl be great. Otherwise, I guess try it and as two different clients.

It does indeed read the current settings. At that point do a save and exit. Reenter and play to you hearts desire. I have tried all kinds of configurations and can always return to the original settings. I am using the edge AI24 RT.

One thing I have not been able to figure out is any correlation between Pro Fit frequencies DB settings and the Equalizer settings in the iphone My Starkey Equalizer curves. I can adjust the equalizer for a good sound but not duplicate by playing with the fine tunning in Pro Fit.
