Thank you!! I didn’t even know about the Pro models! I didn’t see them on the Apple website, but I have to look closer. What in the world would I do without the help of all of you generous people?!

And thank you for saying so eloquently some of the many reasons I have always used Apple computers, etc. I just have been shocked at the terrible sound with my Jabra 30’s and my iPhone. I have a few more things to try to see if it improves the sound.

Have you run into this problem of iPhones not having LE Audio? Or do you use the AirPods for calls and music?

I use the AirPod Pro 2’s for music streaming and flying.

• Music streaming sounds really good through the Airpod Pro 2’s (it is a couple of years old now but this review from What HiFi a British Audiophile publication rates them very well). The Airpod Pro 3’s are reportedly even better.
• In airports and flying the Airpod Pro 2’s also work great. You can use them in the transparency setting (with hearing assistance enabled) when you want to hear and speak to people at the gate or aircrew on plane and then use active noise cancellation (which works very well) during the flight. Streaming music or watching shows/movies from a phone / tablet also sounds great with noise cancellation activated.

I also use the Airpod Pro 2’s when working out or running. With transparency with hearing assistance I can hear around me or listen to music as I want. However in this case music etc is coming from my Garmin watch.

The rest of the time I use my Jabra Pro 30’s and have had no problem with either an iPhone 11 and now an iPhone 16. Phone calls work fine through the Jabra’s (and the Airpods if I am wearing them). Music streaming sounds awful (as you found) through the Jabra’s even using the music setting. My wife found the same the other day when trying stream when working out and now uses her old earbuds when working out and her Jabra 30’s the rest of the time.

The Airpod Pro 2’s are not hearing aid replacements with shorter battery life and the form factor doesn’t work well for social settings (people will think you are streaming or ignoring them) but work better than the Jabra’s for some dedicated tasks.

Mine is at least 1.5" long & goes behind the fold of my ear.

I’m using Resound Vivias, which are identical to the Jabra EP30 and an iPhone 17 Pro, which replaced an iPhone 12 Pro three weeks ago.

Streaming of phone calls and music is pretty well equally good on both. And it is pretty good. I am hyper-critical about this as music streaming is competing with a very expensive hifi system. In some respects I prefer the streaming to streaming the same music to my hifi system. And this isn’t using LE Audio of course, as Apple haven’t implemented that.

I think this is more that your Jabras aren’t set up for you properly yet. I know all about SmartFit and it’s true that you can’t change much for streaming. But selecting the Music program in the app pretty well sorts it out.

one thing I would add though is that Resound recommend that the noise suppression is set to slow in SmartFit and I have found that leaving it on syllabic is a lot better, but no doubt this depends on one’s individual hearing loss.

My Costco Audiologist adjusts music programs for local musicians and is happy to spend time getting the best he can.

The issue is these hearing aids just can’t reproduce the frequencies needed. There have been many threads on this here. The manufacturers (probably correctly) focus on helping people hear conversations better not music reproduction.

Airpod Pro 2’s can and do do a better job.

Yup the equalizer won’t fix everything but some tweaks will make it sound a bit better. Not trying to blow tweeters or anything.

I have read many of these threads and I do know what I am talking about. There is no doubt that you need an occlusive fit to get any real bass and even then it can’t go all that low. At the top end, most hearing aids stop at 9kHz or thereabouts, but many people can’t hear higher than even before they are recognised as having hearing loss.

My main point is that having tried the Resound Vivias into an iPhone 17 Pro that doesn’t have low energy audio, and also the same Vivias connected to that iPhone by a LEA dongle, LEA is a bit better but it doesn’t make the standard iPhone connection to the Vivias sound broken.

I get pretty decent music sound by getting roughly 40% from streaming and 60% from my soundbar. (TV and soundbar/woofer are both LG and there is zero lag.) It required an Optical splitter to be able use the TV Streamer+ and soundbar concurrently (internal TV speakers are disabled during setup).

The soundbar was initally purchased so my wife could get better sound from the TV.

Thank you. That is a puzzle that you hear fine with your Resounds and an iPhone. Except for what you mentioned, that I am not fitted correctly yet. What a drastic difference between your experience and mine at this point!

When I was last at Costco, the fitter put in closed domes with vents, size 2 M. And he also called Jabra and spoke to them about this issue. But streaming phone calls is still either utterly undo-able, or close to it.

So I presume from what you and others have said points to needing either a yet more occlusive fit, or different programming, or both.

As it is, the domes, especially on one side, seem to migrate out a bit, all the more so if I chew. And then I get feedback.

It’s amazing to me what an odyssey this is. I shouldn’t be surprised, however, after having hearing loss for so long with so many abortive attempts at getting HAs with different audiologists.

Thank you, @ready123ca, now that I look at your response again, I see that I was right: the fitter cut the sports lock too short for them to curve around enough to fully do their job. Too bad I didn’t say so at the time, but . . . I didn’t. I’d never seen them before, so I wasn’t sure if I was right. But it was one of those moments where I knew that I was right instinctively. A learning lesson that those instincts are usually right.

So you are clearly saying that you can stream calls with the Jabra 30’s fine into your iPhone 16, and your 11 before that. Hmmm, I guess there is a lot my fitter has to tweak before I get to that point, ie, possibly yet again another dome or a mold, plus the fitting. Thank you.

My Costco fitter did an “Uninstall” (Android S25) on the App first when switching to a new set of HAs - old Resound Ones to Jabra 20s, then again going to Jabra 30s. If that’s what you did, then I’m clearly no help. Streaming calls from my phone (also streaming the TV) is the very best benefit of wearing hearing aids.

I hope you get it resolved.

Edit to Add: You would then have to Re-Pair you hearing aids to your phone, of course.

I didn’t go from one set of HAs to another. I simply uninstalled the app, and then reinstalled it. Perhaps that isn’t enough. I don’t have any other aids, unless when I see the fitter, he does what you described.

Btw, you have Android, which presumably, has LE Audio. I have an iPhone, which has MiFi. But according to others, that still should result in decent streaming of phone calls, if it is adjusted properly for me. But I missed my appointment last week, due to losing one HA as soon as I got into the store!! And it wasn’t found until overnight when a cleaning person found it, miraculously!

My fitter in the previous appointment did call Jabra to deal with this, and he adjusted things, but it still wasn’t better. As it is, I can’t stream calls, as the speech is unintelligible.

Uninstalling the Jabra app leaves your aids paired to your phone, and there’s probably a problem in the pairing. My reco is to uninstall the Jabra app, go into the Bluetooth area of your settings and tell the phone to ‘Forget’ the aids, reinstall the app and follow the prompts when you fire up the app.

An alternative, IIRC, is to follow apple’s instructions to just use MFi - Use hearing devices with iPhone - Apple Support1 . I preferred the app because it muted the aids very easily, and the Apple seemed to require lowering the volume by swiping and swiping again to get sound back, but other than that, I could have lived very well without the Jabra app.
