Understanding Streaming with Starkey Evolv AI 1000

I am a new user with a Starkey Evolv 1000. I just figured out the “Stream Boost” mode and double tap. I can switch on and off with a double tap the enhancement of the sound on my Samsung TV (which also enhances everything else, include the clicking of the keys on my computer). To my knowledge I never paired the Evolv with my Samsung bluetooth. I don’t know if the Evolv is doing that are just increasing the volume of the TV speakers. Is Stream Boost the same as streaming? Is streaming the same as casting? I’m need to learn some new vocabulary! What I want to do is stream my audiobook (or a phone call) from my Moto G7 phone with android 10 and can’t figure this out if it has this capability - my Evolv 1000 or the Moto G7. Everything I read says I should be able to. Maybe there is some concept I’m not understanding.

Moto G 7 vs Asha

The Moto G7 is a series of Android smartphones developed by Motorola Mobility, a subsidiary of Lenovo. It was first released on February 7, 2019, and includes several variants such as the Moto G7 Play, Moto G7 Power, and Moto G7 Plus. The Moto G7 series does support Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids () protocol, which allows for audio streaming to compatible hearing aids.56

ASHA is a protocol that enables audio streaming from a smartphone to hearing aids, allowing for a better listening experience. The ASHA protocol is supported in some Motorola phones, but not all models. To determine if a specific Moto G7 variant supports ASHA, you would need to check the device’s specifications or consult Motorola’s official support documentation.7

The Moto G7 series was designed to offer a balance between affordability and feature richness, with the G7 Play being the most budget-friendly variant and the G7 Plus offering more advanced features
Apparently not all Moto phones support ASHA.

The Starkey Evolv Ai support streaming via Mfi and

Mfi = Made for iPhone (streaming from most actual Apple devices)
ASHA = Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (streaming from Android phones)

The Moto G7 (Android phone) does not support ASHA (special Bluetooth LE protocol) and you have following posibilities:

  • buy a Starkey Remote Microphone +5 for streaming from any Bluetooth device
    or
  • buy a newer Android smartphone which support ASHA, or a Apple phone.
